Just when you thought you will never root for another Iron Man than that of RDJ’s in MCU, Marvel is all set to cast Tom Cruise to prove you wrong.
It’s okay if you don’t believe us, or if you don’t believe the reports as well. Even we won’t be able to trust our eyes the day we watch it on screen. But regardless of our capacity to digest it, the fact is that Marvel might, for real, cast Tom Cruise as Iron Man. And you might not have to wait long to witness this either. No, it might happen as soon as ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ comes out.

Tom Cruise as Iron Man in MCU?
No one who isn’t from an alternate universe is alien to Tom Cruise and Tony Stark of MCU. These two are one of the greatest things that have happened to this generation. While Cruise has always been the fans’ dream actor for every role, there’s no one better than Robert Downey Jr. to carry forward the legacy of Tony Stark in MCU.
As we all witnessed with a heavy heart, Iron Man aka Tony Stark sacrificed himself in ‘Avengers Endgame’ to kill Thanos. The end of Tony Stark’s Iron Man marked the end of RDJ’s journey in MCU as well. Now, Marvel is seeking a new actor to carry forward the legacy with a new version of Iron Man.
While the fate of Iron Man isn’t confirmed yet, there are reports that suggest that we are going to see Iron Man with the face of the ‘Mission Impossible’ star next. Though no one can replace RDJ’s Iron Man, no one can be better than Tom Cruise to carry forward the legacy.
Cruise to do a cameo in ‘Doctor Strange 2’?
The reports suggest that Marvel is planning to cast Tom Cruise to play Iron Man in MCU. However, it doesn’t say that the character is going to replace Tony Stark’s Iron Man or will be the face of Iron Man for the future.
It has already been reported that ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ will have multiple universes. Those multiple universes from 616 MCU universes are expected to feature the different versions of our favourite MCU characters. Remember how it happened in Miles Morales featuring Sony’s ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’? That’s how Marvel is planning to pull of ‘Doctor Strange 2’.
Though it’s funny to think about how Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange will react to a Doctor Strange from another universe, the actual fun will be seeing Tom Cruise doing a cameo as Iron Man from an alternate universe.
This has been reported in an insider post at Daniel RPK’s Patron account, which states:
“I have they are considering a bunch of interesting cameos for Strange to play different versions of character we know. One example I heard of they are considering is Tom Cruise as Tony Stark from another Earth. (at one-point Cruise almost got the role of Stark before RDJ).”
Iron Man and Tom Cruise are made for each other!
While most of the MCU and Tony Stark fans know about the history of Tom Cruise with the character, some have no idea about it. For those who don’t know, Tom Cruise was originally supposed to be the Iron Man long before RDJ.
Back in 1998, when Iron Man was in plans, it was Tom Cruise who wanted to produce it and star in it. But neither did Tom Cruise’s plan work back then and nor was the movie made. But that wasn’t it for Cruise and Iron Man.
Again, when Marvel was all set to produce Iron man in 2008, Cruise was the first choice to play the role. However, it was Tom who denied it for he didn’t like the story of the movie. Thus, Cruise isn’t new to this stage of being almost cast as Iron Man.
But if Tom Cruise really does do a cameo in MCU as Iron Man, even if it is another version from another earth in ‘Doctor Strange 2’, it will go down in history. Do you think he will make a good Iron Man? Let us know in the comments section below!
