“All I have for you is a word, ‘Tenet’.” The second trailer to Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie Tenet has been released, and it has revealed the mysterious concept on which the movie is based.
Try to write “Tenet” backwards, and you will find that it spells the same. In case of any other movie or director, we could have considered it just a matter of giving a movie an interesting name. But anyone who follows Christopher Nolan and is familiar with his past work knows that things are much more complex in that little brain of Nolan.

The word Tenet is a sum of the entire movie. It reveals the concept and the core of the movie that’s soon going to become one of the greatest movies of all time.
The movie co-produced by Warner Brothers earned immense buzz from its first trailer. The trailer being a typical Nolan movie trailer revealed just enough to make audience wonder. However, the second trailer of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet went a step too far ahead, and revealed the mysterious concept on which the movie is based.
The Second trailer of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet reveals the mysterious concept of the movie.
Christopher Nolan’s movies always have one core idea, one concept, that drives the characters and the story of the movie. The ideas are always original and larger than life.
Interstellar talked about Space Travel, Time, the interstellar exploration, and love being the fifth dimension.
Inception explored the idea of subconscious reality and dreams.
The Prestige, one of the most underrated Nolan movie, was a magic trick in itself.
The scientific accuracy of Nolan’s movies has always surprised the experts as well. And the audience also love to explore the complex ideas in Nolan’s movies.
Tenet, no exception, is again based on a core concept. Though not much has been revealed, everyone knows that it’s something related to Time. But there’s more hidden beneath the information that has been revealed.
The second trailer of Tenet has unfortunately ruined Christopher Nolan’s plan by mistakenly revealing the mysterious concept of the movie.
Tenet is not about Time Travel – It’s a strange new concept.
Before the second trailer of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet was released, we all had thought the mysterious concept is nothing more than some sort of time travel attempt by Nolan.
But the new trailer starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson has revealed that it’s not about time travel but “Time Inversion”.
A scene in the trailer, featuring John and Robert discussing the law or the tenet presumably being used by John, reveals the actual concept.
While discussing over a coffee, Robert asks John Washington “Time travel?”, to which John replies “No.” John further proceeds and names the tenet by answering “Time Inversion”.
Now this is what we say is truly Nolan movie. No movie every attempted a concept similar to this. Yet we are sure Nolan is going to deliver it with precision.
What is Time Inversion in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet?
In Physics, Time Inversion is an alternative term for Time Travel. But as revealed by the discussion between John and Pattinson, the tenet of Time Inversion is going to be different than Time Travel.
We have seen in the trailers the characteristics of Time Inversion. In both the trailer of Tenet, we have noticed how time doesn’t bends and reverses for everyone. It seemed like a power or a formula applied to a specific target resulting in time inversion for the target.
We saw how during the highway chase sequence clip in both the trailers, one car was defying the laws of time by inverting the actions and the time, while everything else was going forward in time.
We don’t know how this mysterious concept or tenet of Time Inversion works in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. But we certainly know it will work somehow as everything has previously worked perfectly in a Nolan movie.
