Castlevania season 3 was released in March after a 16-month hiatus and we couldn’t be more satisfied with where the show’s headed. Now that season 3 of Castlevania is finally out, Netflix has confirmed picking up the show for a fourth one, leaving fans guessing the date of release.
The world of a never-ending quest
Netflix animated series Castlevania entered the vast albeit highly competitive streaming space in the summer of 2017 and has not disappointed its audience since. The Netflix show is adapted from the video game, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, developed by Konami in 1989. Original plans were to make it into a film, but the creators decided against it and went forward with an animated design instead. The story of Castlevania is centered on the quests of Trevor Belmont as he moves around saving Wallachia, his nation, from Dracula and his tribe of vampires. The fantasy horror world of Castlevania immediately sparked up interest among the audience as they got to explore the possibilities beyond an age-old folktale of Dracula’s thirst for revenge on the human world that burned and murdered his wife after she was falsely implicated of practicing witchcraft.
The creative team took care of the minute details and it’s almost like gaining a firsthand experience into the quest of Belmont, as if one were playing the video game. How cool is that? The fourth season is the most exciting one, given the dark times that the world is going through now.
Back for a new adventure
Season 3 of Castlevania is streaming, and like Dracula’s loyal allies, we have no complaints. As is with the tradition of Castlevania, Season 3 follows in the footsteps of the previous seasons, and Trevor Belmont is presented with fresh and demanding challenges. The fans of Castlevania have always been impatient and desperate for new releases and honestly, we find that majorly acceptable because the story just stays on with you.
Earlier this year, Warren Ellis, the show’s writer had a little fun and harmless poke at the fans about the craze for the show as he tweeted, “Extra special thanks to all the people who have been tweeting ‘it’s been 84 years’ at me since 2018 who are now tweeting ‘but what about Season 4’. Now people are asking about Season FIVE in what I can only assume is an attempt to destroy my mind.”
Ellis confirmed on Instagram that Netflix would be back with a Season 4 for Castlevania notwithstanding any delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He wrote, “So we’re on for season 4. We don’t expect too much of a Covid-related delay…Four seasons of an Anglophone adult drama animation about vampires, moral philosophy and toilet paper. Which is not a niche production, but something with an audience of (stops, sees Netflix sniper rifle dot)… many, many millions. Who saw that coming?”
When is Season 4 Scheduled to Air?
On March 27, 2020, NX officially let it out that Castlevania will be back with season 4.
Since the announcement, our curiosity about the scheduled date has known no bounds. If we follow the pattern of previous seasons, it usually takes about 15 to 16 months before a new season airs, which is natural given the complex animation interface of the show. So, if our calculations are right, Castlevania Season 4 can be expected to air in June or July of 2021.
We are finding it hard to hold our horses before Castlevania comes out with season 4. Until then, you have season 3 to keep you busy. Go catch it on Netflix!
