Fans review the iconic comedy ‘The King of Queens’
‘The King of Queens’ was about a delivery man Doug Heffernan (played by Kevin James) and his pretty wife Carrie (played by Leah Remini). The man has a good life with a big television and friends to watch it with. However, things change when Carrie’s goofy and annoying father Arthur moves in with them.
IMDb is full of good things about the series from storyline to acting, especially the acting of Kevin James. One of the fans has rated the show above iconic sitcoms like ‘Friends’ and ‘Seinfeld’.
He wrote, “I consider myself to be a connoisseur of sitcoms and used to spend many long hours wasting my life watching them all. Since ‘Seinfeld’, ‘Friends’, and many other great sitcoms have left the scene I am left with wasting my life on the one great series that is left, ‘The King of Queens’, and in my humble opinion beats them all”.

Another fan explained why ‘The King of Queens’ is the best comedy out there and fits in the likes of ‘Friends’, ‘Frasier’, ‘Seinfeld’, and ‘Cheers’. He wrote, “In the best sitcoms, the comedy arises not just from the situations, but from the characters. Consider ‘Friends’, ‘Seinfeld’, ‘Frasier’, and ‘Cheers’, for example. Each series has humorous characters, which are necessarily played by excellent actors. ‘The King of Queens’ is on the list of best sitcoms precisely for that reason”.
With so much praise for the show from all around, even today, it is not a bad idea to think of a ‘The King of Queens’ revival. But are the show-makers planning a revival or are they thinking of a complete ‘King of Queens’ remake? Well, if the cast is not the same, as may be the case with the ‘King of Queens’ cast, then it is essentially a remake, right? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Kevin James expertly played the buffoon with delusions of coolness. We saw him again in ‘Kevin Can Wait’ in 2016. The show marked James’ return to sitcoms on CBS. What happened that the show got cancelled?

What happened to ‘Kevin Can Wait’?
The CBS sitcom starred Kevin James, Leah Remini, Taylor Spreitler, Mary-Charles Jones, James DiGiacomo, Ryan Cartwright, Lenny Venito, Gary Valentine, and Leonard Earl Howze. The show went on a creative overhaul between season 1 and season 2. This was the main reason why ‘Kevin Can Wait’ has to wait forever for the renewal of the new season.
In season 2, the original co-star Erinn Hayes’ character was written off the show and Remini joined the cast, reuniting with Kevin, the former ‘King of Queens’ cast and his co-star.
The series saw big ratings slide in its second season because fans hated the unreasonable replacement of Erinn with Remini. It seemed like the show was being forced into becoming a ‘King of Queens’ remake. CBS has cleaned the house for underperforming shows earlier, so there’s no hope of seeing ‘Kevin Can Wait’ on the network again. Sony Pictures Television is now trading the series to other buyers.
‘The King of Queens’ is rebooting, but without Kevin James
Rumours have it that CBS is bringing ‘The King of Queens’ back to its network but without Kevin. Soon, they will start the ‘King of Queens’ casting for season 10 of the series. There could be a time-jump and the season 10 reboot may focus on Doug’s grown-up children.
CBS may also plan to give the show a complete overhaul with a new story, new characters, and new cast but the same title. If rumours are to be believed, then Kevin James will not reprise his role a Doug in the reboot version of ‘The King of Queens’. Nothing is official as of now. We need to wait for some more time to hear official confirmation from CBS.
Fans are hoping to get some confirmed news about these rumours. Even something as small as a ‘King of Queens’ reunion can give the highest hopes to the fans of the show. Let’s see if the show-makers pay any heed to all the noise being created by the show’s fans. So many 90s shows are having a virtual reunion these days, that it is not improbable to expect a ‘King of Queens’ reunion as well.

What happened to the dog in ‘The King of Queens’?
Doug and Carries adopt a dog named Stanley in the show. The dog had previously belonged to their neighbours, but when they were going to abandon the, Carrie and Doug took him in. The dog only appears and a few episodes and them vanishes. The show does not acknowledge his disappearance.
Is ‘Kevin Can Wait’ a sequel of ‘The King of Queens’?
While most people believe the show to be a sequel of ‘The King of Queens’, Kevin James has, on various occasions, discredited this. He has said that ‘Kevin Can Wait’ is totally different from ‘The King of Queens’.
Why did ‘King of Queens’ get cancelled?
After running for nine successful season, many reasons were cited for the show’s cancellation. These included a drop in viewership, and also a salary dispute with Kevin James. However, a compromise was made with season 9 which was allowed to film, but was a relatively shorter season to mark the end of the show.
