The OG ‘Impractical Jokers’ franchise
The ‘Impractical Jokers’ franchise features comedians Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Sal Vulcano, who themselves are a comedy troupe going by the name “The Tenderloins”.
The original series ‘Impractical Jokers’ is a hidden camera reality show with comedy elements and has been truTV’s leading programming feature. As a matter of fact, the show has been ranked at the top of cable’s unscripted comedy in 2020.
Here’s the update on the shows getting extended
The cast of ‘Impractical Jokers’ will begin working on the production of ‘The Misery Index’ Season 3. Jameela Jamil will also be back as the presenter. ‘The Misery Index’ is a game show in which competing teams try to rate real-life events in terms of how funny or miserable they are. The scores are based on a ranking system created by therapists.
Then there’s ‘Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party’ which was produced in strained circumstances given the pandemic-induced shutdowns in Hollywood. Ranked at the top of cable’s new unscripted comedy shows, ‘Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party’ has been expanded with 10 additional episodes. In the show, given the coronavirus crisis and the need to maintain social distancing, the cast remotely connects with their neighbourhoods and with each other.
The cable network truTV has also roped the cast in to star in its first feature-length film, ‘Impractical Jokers: The Movie’, which will launch in September on HBO Max. The film is about four old friends, who are also comedians, as they are embroiled in an embarrassing mishap.
The film will also have guest appearances from Paula Abdul, Joey Fatone, and Jaden Smith. Merging a fictional narrative with real-life footage of the troupe’s hijinks and pranks, the film is set to be a delight for its many fans with its many callbacks and typical ‘Impractical Jokers’ moments from the show.
What’s happening with the original ‘Impractical Jokers’?
Meanwhile, while things are moving along in the ‘Impractical Jokers’ franchise, what’s happening with the original show?
Well, as it so happens, ‘Impractical Jokers’ has actually been picked up for season 9! The series has procured for itself a 26-episode deal with WarnerMedia for its upcoming season. Recently, the cast filmed the 200th episode of this hilarious hidden camera reality show, which is slated to launch soon next year.
The ‘Impractical Jokers’ universe truly seems to be exploding!
