What is The Good fight series all about?
The Good Fight, a legal and political drama, picks up one year after the events of the final broadcast episode of The Good Wife.
In the new series, an enormous financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia, while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
Cast of the show for season 5?
Christine Baranski is highly likely to reappear in her role as there isn’t a show without her. We’d expect Cush Jumbo, Nyambi Nyambi, Delroy Lindo, Audra McDonald, Sarah Steele, Michael Boatman, Zach Grenier, John Larroquette, and Hugh Dancy to also all return in some way.
Robert and Michelle King serve as show runners and executive producers of the series, which they co-created with Phil Alden Robinson. Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Liz Glotzer, Brooke Kennedy and William Finkelstein also serve as executive producers.
Is it true that season 5 will make up for the shortened season 4?
Due to the ongoing halt in the production since early March, the season 4 which was supposed to be 10-episodes long, concluded with episode 7 on Thursday, May 28. CBS offered an explanation for the same in an interaction with a leading website.
“The Good Fight remains one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed original series on CBS All Access, and we’ve seen a tremendous response from fans this season,” said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, CBS All Access.
She further explained how the fifth season will make up for the fourth season.
“While we all had hoped to provide audiences with a 10-episode fourth season, we, among many others, have had to adapt due to the pandemic. Although it’s a shortened season, the incredible cast and crew, helmed by the incomparable Robert and Michelle King, have produced a phenomenal seven episodes. We can’t wait for viewers to see the remainder of the season and are excited to bring subscribers even more of the timely, gripping storylines the Kings bring to life next in season five.”
When will The Good Fight Season 5 premiere?
With the current health emergency that’s gripping the globe, it looks like it’s going to be a good while before the team goes into production for season five. The delay in production could also mean a delayed release date. The makers claim that they’ll want it to be completely done before presenting it to the fans.
Hence, there’s no confirmed release date of season 5 yet.
But our best guess is sometime next year. Or if we consider the worst case scenario then a release date in early 2022 is our bet.
Possible plot for The Good Fight season 5:
According to actress Baranski, it’s going to be impossible to ignore this moment of history in a show like hers.
She told a leading entertainment portal that, “I think the value of our show is it’s a thinking person’s show, and it pulls you back and makes you say, ‘Wow, these are characters that are living through what we are living through’. God knows they couldn’t write about this, because it’s only just surfaced in the last four or five weeks with a vengeance – although we began reading about it in December and January. But it will be very interesting next season, if we have a next season.”
She further added, “It’s going to be very hard to ignore this, and it’s going to be really interesting to see how writers and moviemakers and artists address this period of time in the way we address 9/11. It’s going to cut through a hole in our consciousness: Our lives will be before and after.”
