The British concoction of misanthropy and humour- The End of the F***ing World- has enough story left to be told in season 3.
Charlie Covell might surprise us once again by coming up with The End of the F***ing World Season 3, just like the way she did in season 2. Will the weirdly dark comedy, The End of the F***ing World, dive deeper into the darkest creases of James (Alex Lawther) and Alyssa (Jessica Barden) in season 3?

The need for The End of the F***ing World Season 3 explained
The series based on Charles Forsman’s graphic novel of the same name surprisingly came back for season 2, even though season 1 was earlier meant to be a standalone season. Will history repeat itself with season 3?
Before that, let’s see if there is a need for another season for the coveted series. Because that’s where the answer lies.
Falling in love can feel like The End of the F***ing World, and the series immaculately depicts every single emotion of the lead pair laced with both dark humour and warmth. The writer did the impossible by giving us a second season, which was as compelling as first, if not more.

While we could deal with the tragic end of season 1, the second season of The End of the F***ing World was about confronting our fears. The possibility of season 3 of The End of the F***ing World looks bright if we follow this pattern.
Show-writer Charlie Covell, speaking to ‘Digital Spy’, talked about what made her write the second instalment for a series whose end had already struck the right chord.
“Obviously, we always think about how you continue something, but I think the way we talked about the second season is: if the first season is about running away, then the second season is about coming back and having to deal with stuff.”

Is Charlie Covell secretly writing The End of the F***ing World Season 3?
She never wanted to reset the character and come up with the same story in season 2 of The End of the F***ing World. Season 2 was made as a continuation of season 1.
Covell said that season 2 is about coming back and not running any further.
“At some point, you’re like, ‘F**k, I’ve got to go home. I’ve got to sort my life out. I can’t keep running”.
According to her, there are numerous possibilities when it comes to the ending of The End of the F***ing World. In her own words,
“Obviously an ending is an ending. If you end it at a wedding, that’s the end–but then there’s obviously after the wedding, the divorce, the children, whatever. You’ve got all those possibilities. I think an end is where you just stop a story. If you continue it on, then that ending becomes the beginning of something else.”
It is clear that Charlie can put a comma in there, anywhere, and come up with another season. She has, however, denied working on season 3 of The End of the F***ing World, saying that she would never do it to appease the fans. But, a writer of her calibre can obviously come up with yet another twist that can propel the story of The End of the F***ing World Season 3. In Charlie’s own hopeful words,
“We had a good idea the other day though, so I wouldn’t say never. But anyway …”
Though she is denying it, she might just be writing the story further. Charlie can, any day, surprise us with the third season of The End of the F***ing World.
Who will be cast in the oddly hilarious drama The End of the F***ing World Season 3?
For two seasons, the story has been about Alyssa and James, and it has been made clear that season 3 can only happen when both Barden and Lawther are on board. The lead pair have reportedly given their nod for season 3 of The End of the F***ing World.
There is also a possibility that Alyssa’s mother Gwen, and James’ dead mom and dad will feature in the flashbacks on season 3.
For now, neither the network nor the show makers have given a green signal to the series. We are hoping that the finale of the 2nd season was just a comma and not a period. We are ready to fall in love with another season of The End of the F***ing World.
The End of the F***ing World is a gripping drama. Write to us in the comments box below how you felt about watching James and Alyssa on their weird journey of love. Do you want there to be a third season?
