Fans have already made up reboots in their minds
American sitcom, That ‘70s Show made its first appearance on Fox in 1998. The audience immediately took to the funny and adorable show that was fresh in both style and content. The show followed the lives of a few teenagers from Wisconsin as they navigated through adolescent relationships and issues. The focus of the show was a teenager named Eric who often found himself stuck in misadventures with his adorable teenage friends. That ‘70s Show was funny, relatable and fresh out of the box in terms of concept as well as talent. The series starred some of the biggest names of Hollywood today including Topher Grace, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher.

The show had to end in 2006 after two important characters decided to leave and move on to other projects. The lead, Topher Grace, played Eric in the series and decided to move on to projects like Spiderman 3. Ashton Kutcher found his calling through major films while doing That ‘70s Show. Following Grace, Kutcher too left the show in order to explore his options as a producer. Such a turn of events took a toll on the viewership ratings, forcing the creators to drop the curtains in 2006.
The news of That ‘70s Show returning with a reboot had fans come up with lots of ideas. One of them wrote on Reddit, “Honestly, if they could get all characters back, nice and healthy…I would be down! 70’s show was made in the 90’s…so they could do a 20 year change up and do a That 90’s Show and do 90’s things. Maybe Donna Eric are married with kids. Kelso still searching, Fez and Jackie…uuhh trying to show interracial relationships are cool. Hyde still being a stoner badass…Just get it on Netflix and they’ll be famous again.” Well, what do you know? Netflix has listened!

The cast speak their minds about the reboot
Talks about a reboot for That ‘70s Show are not new. People had been asking for it, the creators had been planning it, and the cast members had been waiting for it. Topher Grace had made it clear that he would be down for a reboot. He told “The Hollywood Reporter”, “I would do it for sure because that was a very wonderful time for us. We were all very close, having that experience every single day with each other… For me, I’d do it if no one ever saw it. Just ’cause it would be great to hang out with them for a week or something.”

Mila Kunis confessed to being in a very optimistic “maybe” place about the reboot. She told “Entertainment Tonight”, “You know, maybe? I can’t say ‘no,’ because we’re all still very good friends.” We’ll take a “maybe” over a “no” any day.

That ‘70s Show reboot to be a Netflix movie?
Laura Prepon, who played Donna Pinciotti in the show, sang a different tune on the reboot. She told “Popculture”, “I don’t think so. I mean, look, I love that show… That show was so special to me, but it’s kind of like in a time capsule.” She explained, “It’s kind of like, someone who has a great experience at college. You graduate, and I don’t think you’d want to go back through college again and go through the stuff, but you really are like, ‘Wow, what an experience that moulded me in so many different ways.’”
Netflix is known for having brought back many classic shows back to life. Judging by that, That ‘70s Show stands a fair chance of coming back with a reboot, although no news have been confirmed yet. At least we know that a reboot still stand on “maybe” and not a hard no. Most of the cast members would be happy to come back as well. So, for all that’s worth, keep your hopes up!
