Netflix has confirmed season 2 of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’
Get ready to connect with your girlfriends over the landline, for Netflix has given the green light to season 2 of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’. Netflix made the news official after an adorable announcement this year on October 28. In true cutesy ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ style, the cast of the Netflix show dropped the news. The announcement video showed the show stars singing the theme song together while plugging in, very adorably we must say, their own lyrics that said, “And we’re getting a season 2”. The show-runner remains the same as Rachel Shukert will be the one calling shots. Along with Lucia Aniello, Michael De Luca, and Lucy Kitada would also serve as the executive producers of the Netflix originals. Author Ann M. Martin, would also obviously resume her role as the producer.

Not long after Netflix announced having renewed ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ for season 2, the news around the block is that the filming schedule could be looking at February 2021. So, there you have it! If everything goes according to the plan and the season 2 production kicks off early next year, we could be looking at a 2021 release for season 2. However, given the pandemic, things still stand a little uncertain. But, nevermind, because either way you are getting a second season!
Who will be in it?
Season 2 of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ would most likely bring most of the original cast from the first season back. At least the girl gang is going to remain unbroken no matter what. In fact, the recent production listing for season 2 had a new log line attached to it. The line read:
“Season 2 of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ follows the friendship and adventures of Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, Dawn Schafer, Jessie Ramsey, Mallory Pike as the middle-schoolers start their babysitting business in the town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut.”
Moreover, IMDb has currently confirmed seven cast members of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ that are set to make a return in season 2. According to IMDB’s list, Sophie Grace is returning as Kristy Thomas. Zochtil Gomez will resume playing Dawn Schafer on the show. Anais Lee will play Jessi Ramsay, while Vivian Watson plays Mallory Pike. Momona Tamada will be seen as Claudia Kishi. Malia Baker would return as Mary Ann Spier, and Shay Rudolph would be back as Stacey McGill. That Jessi would be introduced as a character in the upcoming season, was already a spoiler that Rachel Shukert had thrown at the fans earlier. She had said to “Variety” that Jessi would move in later into the story of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’, more so because she is important to the plot. However, she clarified that Jessi is “more of a season 2 character”. Was that a hint or what? Wink, wink!
‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ insiders have dropped season 2 hints
Getting candid in interviews, Jessi’s introduction into ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ wasn’t the only spoiler Shukert had dropped. She also had been very open about the subplots from the original book series that she would like to cover in the Netflix show. When “Vanity Fair,” asked Shukert to choose one storyline she is the most excited about, she said,
“There’s so many. I love how Kristy evolves in her new family. I always have really loved Mary Anne and Dawn—as their parents get closer, how that kind of changes their relationship. But you know, we’ll see”.
The cast of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ too have their own ideas about the upcoming season(s). For one, Shay Rudolph aka Stacey is quite averted to the idea of her character moving away to New York in the original books. She hopes that it doesn’t happen this season and that she gets to stay with the other girls and be a part of the babysitting adventures. Sophie Grace, the one playing Kristy in the show, had also given her inputs for season 2. She hopes that her character gets to coach the softball team, “Kristy’s Krushers”, in the coming season like in the original books.
