Bye-bye, body-shamers! Patty might be back with Insatiable season 3, determined to take you down.
Starring Debby Ryan as Patty, Netflix’s Insatiable is perfect for anyone who grew up watching teen-dramas and developed a dark sense of humour along the way. For every comic stunt that makes you laugh, an equally dark twist lurks just around the corner.
And the most recent season of this revenge-comedy assured viewers that it had a lot more to offer, than just the story of a girl who lost weight and transformed into a beauty queen.
Highlights:
- For Debby Ryan aka Patty, revenge is a dish best served cold
- Evil Patty’s demeanour in season 2 shocked viewers
- Insatiable season 3 happening soon?
From the get-go, the show has been open about tapping into subjects that might be a slightly more intense, and need to be tread on carefully. Issues such as eating-disorders, our society’s warped vision of beauty standards, body-image and teenage-bullying are often depicted and discussed.
You might think a show that deals with such subjects, might be lauded. But Insatiable met with significant backlash when it first aired. Critics and viewers alike, sought that the series was unfunny, lazy and that it intentionally misunderstood the gravity of its subject, and the real-life repercussions of fat-shaming.
Fans that stayed with the show and watched the second season noted that it had a lot more to offer, as it developed its murder mystery plot and kept them guessing. But whether Patty will be back in Insatiable season 3, is a question fans are still asking.

For Debby Ryan aka Patty, revenge is a dish best served cold
Insatiable follows the life of Patty Bladell (Debby Ryan), a formerly overweight teenager who returns to high school with an ulterior motive — revenge. After a lifetime of being fat-shamed, bullied by her peers, and nicknamed “Fatty Patty”, her new transformation has left everyone surprised.

But how did this happen? Patty was forced to spend an entire summer on a “liquid diet”, after being punched in the face and having her jaw wired shut. But that’s not all the news – Patty wants revenge, and has set out for payback against anyone who has ever wronged her.
If you’re wondering how far she will go against those who have tried to make her feel bad about herself, for Patty – sky’s the limit.
In the second season, you see a very different side of Patty as she struggles to wrestle with her inner demons, and makes dark choices. She shocks the viewer by committing murder after murder and wreaking havoc everywhere she goes, confirming that she has embraced her dark side.
The show’s use of satire in depicting the most ridiculous situations is seriously commendable!

Spoilers ahead!
If you’ve watched Insatiable, you know that this is a show where anything can happen. Patty feels no remorse as she commits several murders throughout the second season and often laughs about it. The finale is definitely up with the craziest there are, and almost seems to be inspired by the thrilling insanity previously brought to us by Dexter.
The season 2 finale revealed the real identity of the Pageant killer (hello, Regina) and the winner of Miss American Lady (Surprise, surprise – It’s Patty!).
It also tied up all loose ends and with Patty coming to terms with a dark truth about herself – that she isn’t a victim anymore, she’s a killer. Now if that doesn’t establish a potential plot for Insatiable season 3, we don’t know what does!
We see Bob in prison, framed for crimes he did not commit. Patty, our newly crowned Miss American Lady pays her former coach a visit, and on realising that Regina (Arden Myrin) is the Pageant Killer, decides to kill her and also frame her for Stella Rose’s murder.
The episode ends with Patty telling Bob “nothing tastes as good as killing feels.” Clearly, Evil Patty is on the hunt for Regina so she can prove Bob’s innocence and put an end to his prison sentence.
Insatiable season 3 is happening soon?
At the end of season 2, Bob realises that Patty kills people because she enjoys it, and not because of the circumstances she is in. Her rage knows no bounds, and Bob considers himself to be the only person who can stop her. And of course, we still need to find out about what happens to Regina.
While that sounds like an interesting plot for season 3, Netflix has no plans to continue the show. Despite the popular first season, the platform has decided to put an end to Patty’s story. The announcement came in earlier this year, with cast member Alyssa Milano (who plays Coralee) expressing her disappointment on Twitter.
The jaw-dropping finale left viewers gasping, and it is only fair that the series should be renewed, so fans can have closure. Netflix has given their word, but the hope that another network picks the show, lingers on.
