With the release of Netflix’s Space Force, Steve Carell has been promoted to the position of Chief in the U.S. Space Force.
Co-created by The Office duo Steve Carell and Greg Daniels, Space Force premiered on Netflix on 29 May 2020. Scrapping off everyone’s expectations and excitement, Space Force turned out to be a total disappointment. With an IMDB score of 6.9 and a rating of 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, fans and critics bashed Steve Carell’s space comedy for being a boring and laugh-less ride.
- After Netflix’s Space Force, Steve Carell got appointed as the Chief of the U.S. Space Force.
- Steve Carell as the Head of U.S. Space Force at the U.S. Air Force Museum.
- Steve Carell was presented as an actual Chief of the U.S. Space Force.
However, the failure of the Space Force didn’t affect the popularity of Steve Carell. On the brighter side, just before the premiere of Netflix’s Space Force, Steve Carell got appointed as the Chief of the U.S. Space Force.
We don’t know how much Netflix’s space comedy contributed to this promotion but getting promoted to the head positions of U.S. Space Force is quite a deal.

Before you get excited and #Steve_for_US_SpaceForce begins trending on Twitter, let us tell you the entire story.
The truth is that Steve Carell got promoted to the position of U.S. Space Force Chief just a few days before the release of Netflix’s Space Force. But this was merely a prank. The excitement of the fans didn’t last long as they realized it was nothing but just a prank.
Steve Carell as the Head of U.S. Space Force at the U.S. Air Force Museum.
Reportedly, one of the staff members at Air Force Museum in Ohio replaced the photo of Gen. John Raymond, one of the real-life Chief of U.S. Space Force, with the photo of Gen. Mark R. Naird, a fictional Chief of U.S. Space Force, played by Steve Carell in the Netflix’s Space Force.
This was probably a fan tribute, or a promotional strategy considering the timing of the prank.
Steve Carell disguised as an actual Chief.
Not only the photo of Netflix’s Space Force Chief (Steve Carell) was placed at the position of U.S. Space Force Chief, but it was also accompanied by a bio. The bio contained all the necessary elements from the commission of the Steve Carell as the Chief, to the first reporting, etcetera.
The bio read: “Gen. Mark R. Naird assumed the duties as the first Chief of Space Operations, United States Space Force, on Dec. 20, 2019,” it continued, “The U.S. Space Force is responsible for providing resilient, defendable and affordable space capabilities for the Nation and the Joint Force. It is the duty of the U.S. Space Force to protect the interests of the Unites [sic] States in space; deter aggression in, from and to space; and conduct prompt and sustained space operations.”
While the museum is closed and the staff is less due to the Pandemic, it seems as the staff is having a fun time with no crowd inside the museum.
Regardless of how Netflix’s Space Force performed, we feel that Steve Carell was a perfect fit for the Chief of U.S. Space Force, even if only for one day.
