Why ‘Justice League’ is remade as Snyder’s cut ‘Justice League’?
Snyder had to step down before filming the 2017 film after the tragic suicide of his daughter. His replacement Joss Whedon reshot and rewrote significant portions of the script, and many fans felt the movie was noticeably different than the rest of Snyder’s filmography. Though Snyder was still credited as a director in the theatrical cut of the film, fans have been wanting to see his original version of ‘Justice League’ since then.
DC FanDome announcement
In May of 2020, Snyder officially announced that his version of ‘Justice League’ would be released exclusively on HBO Max. Millions of dollars are being allocated for its budget and reshoots with several key actors in the new Snyder cut. If we look into the history of Snyder’s director’s cuts, they have been significantly longer than their theatrical releases. Due to this, in DC FanDome in August 2020, it was announced that Snyder Cut ‘Justice League’ would be four hours long and release as a four-part miniseries.

Zack Snyder social media response contradicts official announcement
Snyder responded to a social media query that his cut would be a “one-shot” film (via What’s On HBO Max). A fan asked him on Vero, to clarify whether or not his cut of ‘Justice League’ would be a mini-series or a feature film. Snyder, who is fairly active on the platform, answered with “one-shot“. His answer makes it clear that the Snyder Cut will be a feature film.
Zack previously confirmed that when it came to presenting his version of ‘Justice League’ in the new cut, he made “no compromises“. That’s why people thought a four-part film would be satisfying. This way the characters would get strong moments, the story would have time to breathe and nothing would have to be cut to fit within a movie theatre’s format.
Now that it is revealed that the film will be in one part, fans are worried if Snyder will end up cutting scenes in ‘Justice League’. Although, we can trust him on his previous comments about not compromising.
There hasn’t been any official announcement from HBO or Warner Bros about whether Snyder Cut will be a mini-series or feature film, as of now. We still can’t believe Snyder would contradict the official statement back during DC FanDome. It seems like something big has happened between then and now. We can only hope that the cut really is four hours long. Snyder might have considered that it would be important to present the film as one cohesive piece. We can expect an official announcement or clarification about Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ from HBO Max or Warner Bros. Only then we will get the clear cut answer whether Snyder’s Cut ‘Justice League’ will be a mini-series or a feature film.
