Ever since it was made public that Jamie Foxx will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming movie ‘Spider-man 3’ as Electro (a character affiliated to the ‘Sinister Six‘ and from the original Marvel comic books), the internet has been booming with fan theories and speculations. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will be getting his third solo adventure with the new sequel movie in the Marvel franchise and anticipation is already pretty high.
The upcoming movie in the franchise ‘Spider-Man 3’ will be directed by Jon Watts. Plot details are still being kept away from the eager fans, but it’s expected that the film will pick up right where the end credit scene of the previous movie, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, left off.
Those end credit scenes saw Peter Parker’s identity as Spiderman revealed to the entire world.
Production is predicted to start this fall, with much of the ‘Faraway from Home’s’ supporting cast reportedly returning to assist Peter, together with his latest conflict.
Jamie Foxx and Electro in ‘Spider-Man 3’
Up until the news came out that Jamie Foxx will return to the franchise as Electro, fans had been speculating that the villain for the new movie would be ‘Kraven the Hunter’, another Marvel character from the comic books.
However, it still is quite possible that Kraven will be featured in the movie as part of the Sinister Six group of troublemakers.
The Sinister Six
Sony and Marvel were very much on the cusp of producing a movie on the Sinister Six before they went ahead and made a standalone movie on one of its villains ‘Venom’. Writer Drew Goddard is still hopeful that the Sinister Six movie gets made.
In an interview with a leading magazine, he quoted: “Who knows, it could see the light of day. It’s funny, I’ve been through a lot of volatility at a lot of different studios. Between MGM and Sony and Fox. At a certain point, you start to realize, ‘Oh, this is just a volatile business’ and you try to stay afloat as the boat rocks back and forth.”

Taking motivation from ‘Venom’s’ success, the two companies will once again join hands to create a sequel to ‘Venom’ starring Tom Hardy in the lead role. We also got to see another Sinister Six member – Mysterio (played by Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’) – in the previous ‘Spider-Man’ movie.
It is also rumoured that Vulture, the main villain from the first Tom Holland ‘Spider-Man’ movie, may return. According to some, the villain known as Scorpion will also be making his return to the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise with the upcoming movie.
When will the movie come out?
Although the movie was initially slated for a worldwide release in July of 2021 i.e. next year, multiple delays owing to the Coronavirus pandemic have pushed the release date further and further into the future. Sony corrected the July date and declared November to be the month in which the movie would be released. However, this did not hold and recently the release date was pushed to 17th December 2021. Lets just hope that this one sticks!
Who will star in the movie?
Fans were delighted to know that no ‘Spider-Man’ regular would be left behind in the next sequel movie and all the lead stars will be making a return. Among the most notable returning actors are Tom Holland (as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man), Zendaya (Mary Jane or ‘MJ’), Marisa Tomei (as Aunt Jane), Jamie Foxx (as Electro), and Tony Revolori (as Flash Thompson).
The upcoming movie ‘Spider-Man 3’ will feature several villains from the past ‘Spider-Man’ movies such as Electro, Mysterio, Vulture, etc. And to play them, many actors would be returning to the franchise, most notable of them being Jamie Foxx.
