Before we dive into who’s who in the show, let’s just let you in on a fact. The Oscar-nominated writer Tom Bidwell calls it his “dream project”. It is safe to say that it’ll be rather beautifully written if that’s the case.
“Sherlock Holmes in Conan Doyle’s books had a group of street children he would use to help him collect clues, so our show is what if Sherlock was a drug addict and a delinquent and the children solve the whole case while Sherlock Holmes takes credit,” Bidwell stated.
The shows star Lloyd-Hughes from Killing Eve and Inbetweeners as Sherlock Holmes, while Royce Pierreson from Judy and The Witcher will be charming the viewers as the ‘sinister’ Dr Watson.
It is going to be a while before we see how much these two justify the roles, for Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Robert Downey Jr., and Jude Law have set the standards pretty high.
The rest of the star cast includes Thaddea Graham from Letter For The King and Us as Bea; Jojo Marcari from Sex Education as Billy; Darci Shaw from The Bay as Jessie; McKell David as Spike and Harrison Osterfield as Leopold.
The story will revolve around a few street kids called The Irregulars who solve crimes for Sherlock Holmes. Holmes is a drug addict and takes credit for all the solved cases.
However, there’s a twist here. Unlike the Sherlock Holmes series and Sherlock Holmes movies, The Irregulars is going to deal with supernatural cases. The kids are trying to save the city from a dark force, allegedly.
The kids will be trying to save London and the rest of the world from the dark edges of this supernatural force.
When is it releasing?
The production has begun and the show is being shot in Chester. The exact date of the launch is not confirmed. However, it is going to air on Netflix this year for sure.
It might be by the end of 2020 or even in the middle (if we get lucky enough).
Fans are excited as the previous versions of Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories have been incredibly interesting and successful. Let’s see what we’ve got there.
