Are reports of JK Rowling planning a Harry Potter TV series with Warner Bros. true? What if they are? Should we already hold our breath?
The Harry Potter stories of JK Rowling still weave a kind of magic that is difficult to contain in just a handful of movies. If yes, what will be the storyline? Who will be in the cast? There’s a lot to find out.

The Harry Potter film series is based on JK Rowling’s novels of the same name. The movies explore the wizarding world from Harry’s perspective, structuring all the conflicts and story plots around him.
The first movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was released almost two decades ago in 2001. With seven following movies, the story and series concluded with the eighth installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, in 2011. A decade since its conclusion, the world is still alive among fans, with a spin-off film series, plays, and parks.
When is Rowling going to bring the Harry Potter TV series?
Harry Potter is such an undying phenomenon that no matter where you are — even in the Seven Sleeper’s den — you will have still heard of it.
Even after the conclusion of the key storyline with the last Harry Potter movie, fans have received treats in the form of the Fantastic Beasts movie series. However, fans are craving to see Hogwarts, and the same world of Harry Potter again.
Lately, there have been rumours regarding a new Harry Potter TV series being developed by Rowling and WB for HBO Max.
However, these reports aren’t new. We have been hearing about a TV series for years. Yet, we have seen no Harry Potter content till now other than the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which fans prefer not to talk about.
But even after such high demands, and so much left in the stories to tell (also a lot of money), is the TV series coming anytime soon?
JK Rowling shuts the rumour mills down
The rumours and reports of Harry Potter TV series had been here for a while now, thus, Rowling knows all about them. In the past, there were reports of a TV series set in Hogwarts with an all-new star cast. At that time, Rowling had clearly denied any such plans.
As reported by Den of Geek, Rowling dismissed all such reports with her tweet:
Even after Rowling’s clarification, the rumours are still alive. Though we understand the emotion behind the entire movement, the TV series is just not happening.
Amid all, Hypable got in touch with Rowling’s representatives a year ago. As stated by them, “there are no plans to develop the Harry Potter stories into a TV series. Any reports are purely speculative,” the TV series is just not happening currently.
Daniel Redcliffe wishes for a Harry Potter TV series.
While its quite clear that Rowling isn’t working or planning any Harry Potter TV series, it doesn’t mean the fans don’t want one. Not only the fans, but Harry Potter himself (Daniel Redcliffe) wants a TV series.
Last year in February when Redcliffe was promoting his show Miracle Workers at TV Guide, he revealed his thoughts.
He said, “I feel like there are other stories from that world that you could absolutely turn into a TV series, 100 percent. A series with the older generation, that could be very cool.”
Indeed, there are a ton of anecdotes in the Harry Potter books that Rowling can turn into TV series any day, and maybe she will, one day.
