Where to watch ‘Reno 911!’ Season 8?
The funny cop show is a parody of reality crime TV shows and is made in a mockumentary style that chronicles the Reno police officers. These Reno cops fail at their jobs and make themselves look bad on camera which is in direct contrast to cops’ heroic portrayal of the police. Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, and Kerri Kenney-Silver feature in the series alongside guest comic actors including Mary Birdsong, Niecey Nash, Cedric Yarbrough, and Ken Marino. ‘Reno 911!’ also stars Joe Lo Truglio and Ian Roberts in later seasons.
Originally airing on Comedy Central from 2003 to 2009, ‘Reno 911!’ ended after six seasons. Netflix kept considering season 7 of ‘Reno 911!’ and kept streaming six seasons. A decade passed and fans have been waiting for an announcement of the reboot. It was Quibi who picked up the series for season 7 and the deputies over at the Reno Sheriff’s Department returned for more hijinks. The revival happened and season 8 was announced before Quibi found itself in hot water.
Quibi teased new ‘Reno 911!’ Season 8, with a short video which they advertise as “Part 2” of its revival. Lt. Jim Dangle appears in the clip, complete with his iconic short-shorts and boots costume. Season 7 was smoothly streaming on Quibi for subscribers in the form of 10-minute bite-sized episodes which was characteristic of the new platform. Everything was happy and cheerful until COVID-19 engulfed the whole business of Quibi.
Roku is the ray of light for season 8

But fans can take a sigh of relief because Roku survived the pandemic. In fact, it has done gangbusters during the Covid 19 led lockdowns. Rob Holmes, the Vice President of Programming at Roku, explained the business model:
“The Roku Channel is the home for free and premium news and entertainment and in Q4 2020 reached U.S. households with an estimated 61.8 million people. The Roku Channel experienced rapid growth in Q4 2020 doubling household reach year over year and was a top 10 channel in both streaming hours and active accounts.”
Roku has acquired all the shows of Quibi including ‘Reno 911!’ because Quibi had good content on its platform including Emmy award-winning scripted series, alternative and reality programming, and documentaries featuring stars like Kevin Hart, Liam Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Anna Kendrick, Nicole Richie, Chrissy Teigen, and Lena Waithe. Roku won’t stop at this. It also plans to air new programs throughout the year.
Cheers to the new platform, that has brought long lost smiles back on ‘Reno 911!’s’ fans faces.
