On Tuesday Megxit Officially Begins! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no more senior royals. And looks like they were so busy getting rid of their royal status that the couple didn’t think through the formalities entitled with the new life.
Now the reports have surfaced that Prince Harry is having trouble getting a visa.
As Per The Royal Standards
The couple recently made a rash move leaving British Columbia for Los Angeles amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Obviously, back in January The Duke and Duchess of Sussex couldn’t have predicted that coronavirus will take over the world more effectively that Brits did in history.
But Harry when you have lived a privileged life how will you adjust among the commoners? And Meghan you should have known better about visa complications and earning your own money.
But Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles did! Both had warned Harry not to rush the departure.
The said financial and practical issues around Harry and Meghan’s move arise from higher taxes, immigration issues and security. And the cracks in their plans are showing from Day 1.

A source told the Daily Mail, “Neither of them had thought through these issues. Harry was told to put his request in writing and come up with some ideas.”
The first blow came to Harry and Meghan’s plan with the hope of carrying on the ‘Sussex Royal’ brand name. They had hoped to patent the title by British Monarchy didn’t approve of them capitalizing on their royal ties.
Another blow came when the Canadian government made it clear that in effect to change of their ‘status’ Harry and Meghan would have to pay for their own security.
Also, getting a work visa was difficult as Meghan Markle remains a US citizen and her income will be taxed both in Canada and the US.
Visa and Immigration Fall Out
Given their circumstances, in Canada, the couple would have to apply for permanent residency under a points system weighing their skills and education.
Watch: Opinion of Canadians about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
According to Canadian Immigration rules ‘skills and education,’ part could have been tricky for Harry – as his employer for life has been his own family and he doesn’t have a college degree — which is a MUST!
That makes the couple hop on a private jet and fly out to the US right before the US-Canada border closes due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
And even before they could think that they have time to plan their way forward – Donald Trump happened to Meghan and Harry.
The American Dream
The President of the United States made it clear in his tweet that Harry and Meghan ‘must pay’ for their own security. Which according to Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson they will – with a $ 2.5 million help from Harry’s father Prince Charles of course!
Now the only option that’s left with Harry and Meghan is an American Green card. Given Meghan Markle is a US citizen the couple can apply for a Green card. Harry can live and work in the country this way.
As per the immigration rules in the US Harry has three options to get a green card — he can either sponsor himself in the extraordinary ability category. His wife Meghan Markle can sponsor him as a U.S. citizen or a U.S. entity can sponsor him.
And looks like for the visa Prince Harry is dependent on Meghan Markle now!
Will Harry and Meghan Make it or it’s going to be another royal disaster?
