Warrior Nun is still sitting pretty in the Netflix top ten nearly two weeks after its release, and so it seems like there’s a pretty good chance the series will be renewed.
The latest of Netflix’s successful comic book adaptations, Warrior Nun, currently trending as one of the top 10 on Netflix in the US, gives us little reason to think that we’ve seen the last of Ava’s adventures.
- Where does Warrior Run season 1 end?
- Will there be a season 2?
- When will the next season air?
Especially, after the finale’s massive cliffhanger that people can’t stop talking about. Will we get to watch the warrior nuns, who have sworn to protect the world from demonic forces battle against the evil, one more time? Spoilers ahead.
Where does Warrior Run season 1 end?
Spoiler Alert! In case you need a recap, here’s everything that goes down during the series’ final minutes: Newly-discovered halo-bearer Ava meets the angel Adriel in his tomb beneath the Vatican catacombs, where he’s been trapped for centuries. But it turns out that he’s not an angel, but a devil, and when Ava’s warrior nun gang from the Order of the Cruciform Sword destroy the walls that trapped him, Adriel is set free.
Later it’s unveiled that Father Vincent has actually been working to liberate Adriel, his demonic lord, all along. Adriel summons a pack of demons who possess all of the Vatican bystanders, and soon Ava and the sisters find themselves engulfed. And that’s where season 1 ends.
We have no clue if Ava and her pals of the OCS fight it out, make it out alive, or where Jillian Salvius’ son Michael might be? The last we heard was he hopped into his teleporting Ark machine.
Will there be a season 2?
We are familiar with Netflix’s tactic of waiting before announcing a show’s future. As Warrior Nun just premiered in early July, there’s no official word yet on what the show’s future might be.
However, show-runner Simon Barry disclosed in an interview that the show’s writing team is working on ideas for the next season.
“We’ve thrown a lot of ideas around about where the show could go at the end of the season, of what we want to do next season. Having made several shows, I know that all of these things change as you go,” said Barry.
He added that depending on how the show plays and how the audience reacts to it, there ends up beinga few changes and so he can’t get into specifics. Barry in a different interview also said that he’s down for “anything between five and seven seasons.” So, it is safe to say that he’s definitely in it for a long run.
When will the next season air?
Although fans are desperately asking for season 2 news, it’s too early to tell if the series will get the green light from Netflix. But it’s hard to deny that there are some strong signs of hope though.
For one, Warrior Nun is still sitting pretty in the Netflix top ten nearly two weeks after its release, and so it seems like there’s a pretty good chance the series will be renewed.
Second, the sudden conclusion – or lack of, rather – suggests there is enough room for more seasons, and if not more, then at least a second season.
For example, fans are dying to know if Ava defeats Adriel. And if yes (we are hoping she does), then how she and the others will manage to do so? Plus, we still need to find out what happened to Michael and JC.
As far as we know, Netflix’s mid-budget scripted series, particularly those that require considerable VFX work like Warrior Nun, typically are on hold a little more than a year between seasons.
Given the current situation, film and TV productions are on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. But that being said, the industry is hoping to open film sets back up within the next few months. And if that happens, Warrior Nun season 2 could set to premiere sometime in fall of 2021.
Since the show-runner has hinted that he’s up for anything between five to seven seasons of Warrior Nun, how many seasons do you think will there be? Let us discuss in the comments box below.
