Iron Man has created many things in MCU. From Jarvis to nano-tech; From a bunch of Iron Man suits to Ultron and Visions, and at last the Iron Infinity Gauntlet to save the world. But do you know, Iron Man was also the creator of Dr Octopus’ Tentacle in Spider-man 2?
It sounds unbelievable, but it is true. Everyone knows that Iron Man is a genius in MCU. He has created and invented a bunch of stuff. When the world was being threatened by his own creation, Ultron, he went against everyone and created Vision to save everyone.
When it was not possible for Avengers to control time during time travel in Endgame, Tony Stark created the time controller. When Thanos destroyed Infinity Gauntlet in Infinity War, Iron Man created a new one in Endgame. In short, MCU was an exhibition for Iron Man’s creations.
However, do you know that Iron Man was also the creator of Dr Octopus’ Tentacles in Sony’s Spider-man 2?

We know that Sony’s Spider-man 2 is a movie of an entirely different universe than MCU’s Iron Man. But that doesn’t change the fact that Iron Man was (almost) the creator or Dr Octopus’ Tentacles in Sony’s Spider-man 2. Dr Octopus was the main villain in Spider-man 2.
And if you remember the iconic train fight between him and Spider-man, in which Spider-man somehow saved the train full of passengers from falling off the broken bridge, then you must also remember which tentacles we are talking about. Yes! Those metal arms that imitated an Octopus’ tentacles.
Now, you must be wondering how is it possible that Iron Man was the creator of Dr Octopus’ Tentacles in Sony’s Spider-man 2. In the movie, it was clearly shown that Dr Octopus himself created them. Well, there’s a catch.
Iron Man was supposed to have a crossover with Sony’s Spider-man 2.
Well before MCU’s first movie Iron Man came in theatre, Marvel was planning for Iron Man and Spider-man 2 crossover. Iron Man was in planning for years before its release, even before Sony’s Spider-man 2 went into production. Iron Man was a risky move for MCU, thus, MCU wanted Iron Man to have a crossover with Sony’s Spider-man 2.

This idea was even penned down on paper by Marvel in previous drafts for Iron Man. And in those drafts, Iron Man was to be the creator of Dr Octopus’ Tentacles. Hence, allowing Iron Man to be introduced in Spider-man 2 and meet Spider-man. However, due to Sony having the rights for Spider-man, things didn’t go well for Marvel’s plan for Iron Man.

In the actual Spider-man 2, Octavius was working on a fusion power project and wore a harness of robotic tentacle arms with AI to handle hazardous materials. During a demonstration, the project went terribly wrong, and the tentacles developed sentience and became permanently attached to his body, earning the nickname “Doctor Octopus”.
The movie didn’t show any origin for the Tentacles, however, Octavius claimed that he made the inhibitor chip to help his mind having controls over these arms. Thus, it was assumed that he created those tentacles.
In Marvel’s previous drafts, Iron Man was either to gift those tentacles to Octavius for his research. Or was supposed to create them as a part of a collaborated research with Dr Octopus.
In any case, this would have made Iron Man a major part in Sony’s Spider-man 2. Now, Spider-man might have considered Iron Man to be an antagonist for helping Dr Octopus. Or, a better alternative would have been Iron Man helping Spider-man in defeating Dr Octopus.
In any case, Iron Man being the creator of Dr Octopus’ Tentacles in Spider-man 2 would have made for a crazy crossover.
