What!? Are we finally getting a brand-new season 10 of Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’, and that too after four long decades? Is it really happening?
‘All in the Family’, created by Norman Lear, is undoubtedly one of the best and the most favourite American television sitcom series. It was released in 1971 and its cast included Carroll O’Connor, Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers, Rob Reiner, and Danielle Brisebois. The series revolves around the life of a working-class White family living in Queens, NY. Besides, it deals with intergenerational conflicts that are relatable to anyone. It is one of the top-rated TV shows and has won 22 Emmy awards. By the end of its eighth season, everybody thought that the show had worn-out. However, at Carroll’s request, another season was made to give us a classy end. So, what now? Is ‘All in the Family’ Season 10 coming or not?

Is Norman Lear renewing ‘All in the Family’ for season 10?
The last episode of Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’ is a poignant episode about the travails of a phlebitis Edith. Archie calls on his wife to help cook the food for the St. Patrick’s Day celebration at his tavern. Unknown to him, Edith has a severe case of phlebitis where she must not stay on her feet for long.
As the episode nears the end, Archie learns of Edith’s sacrifice, and together, they share a rare moment of tenderness. But did she recover or did she die?

The end of season 9 with this cliffhanger left the viewers hoping for a next season, however, that didn’t happen; instead, the characters moved to a new series called ‘Archie Bunker’s Place’.
Does the spin-off continue the storyline of ‘All in the Family’ or should there be a season 10 of ‘All in the Family’? Continue reading to find out.
What is it in ‘Archie Bunker’s Place’?
“Too Good Edith” – the last episode of ‘All in the Family’ can be considered as a precursor to Edith’s death from a stroke on ‘Archie Bunker’s Place’. This is a spin-off of Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’, created by Lear himself. It focuses more on the tavern that Archie co-owns rather than the Bunker home.
The Thanksgiving episode of this spin-off series marks the final time when Edith, Archie, Mike, and Gloria were seen together. The series moves forward with stories of Archie and Edith and those of Mike and Gloria – the stories we would have wanted in season 10 of ‘All in the Family’.
That said, we don’t think a new season will ever be made, meanwhile, people waiting for season 10 are like:
So … is a new season on its way or not?
Honestly, we don’t think Norman Lear would make ‘All in the Family’ Season 10. After all, why should he? Even after nine seasons, the show is still viewed as funny, holds a top-rating, and is considered as one of the most influential sitcoms in television history.
Not only did the series end on a wonderful note but the storyline was also continued further in the spin-off series that lasted for four seasons. The spin-off ‘Archie Bunker’s Place’ was also a top-rated show.
Besides ‘Archie Bunker’s Place’, Norman Lear has created other spin-offs of ‘All in the Family’ such as ‘Maude’, ‘Good Times’, ‘The Jeffersons’, ‘Checking In’, ‘Gloria’, and ‘704 Hauser’, which feature the storylines of various characters in an incredible way.
Our concern is if Lear has already covered the storylines in subsequent spin-off series, why would he make a new season of ‘All in the Family’? Also, there have been no official announcements regarding the series renewal. Do you expect a new season? Let us know in the comments.
