Who plays Nick’s ex-wife on ‘Grace and Frankie’?
It is none other than Academy Award holder Mary Steenburgen! She plays the role of Miriam who was earlier married to him. Nick Skolka (Grace’s husband) was married to Miriam but their marriage did not work out. However, Miriam continues to play an important part in his life as his business partner. They also have a son together, Keith.
Mary Steenburgen or Nick’s ex-wife Miriam is introduced to us in season 6 of ‘Grace and Frankie’. Her entrance comes as a shock because Grace’s twenty-seven year younger, successful, smart, and charming husband forgot to mention about his first ex-wife Miriam. He also conveniently forgets to mention how his ex-wife continues to be his business partner despite their divorce! Another shock for Grace is when she makes sense of Nick’s strange behaviour. First, we see him sell the sculpture Grace was using to ‘Rise Up‘ from the toilet. To cover it up, he tells her he sold it because she didn’t like it, but, in reality, it was all because of money. This is also the reason why Nick’s ex-wife Miriam was selling off paintings from the Hanson-Skolkas’ art collection earlier in the season, for the money.

After a minor arm surgery, she confessed how she constantly hears music in her head. Steenburgen further recalled how it took her months to just realize that it wasn’t going away. She then started studying the language of music and began songwriting. “I began to work with other songwriters to express what I felt”, Steenburgen said. “For the last 12 years, I really devoted myself more intensely than anyone other than my family probably realizes to writing music and expressing myself that way.
