It seems Netflix is more excited about Castlevania season 4 than us. While fans were still wrapping their heads around season 3, the streamer has confirmed season 4.
Created by Warren Ellis, Castlevania is a dark, medieval, fantasy series based on a Japanese video game of the same name, made by Konami. This animated series first aired on July 2017.

The overwhelming response it received for its concept and storyline, quickly prompted its makers to come up with a second and third series in the following years. With a total of 22 of 20-minute episodes, Castlevania has three seasons. Season 3 premiered on March 5. In a matter of a little more than twenty days, Netflix confirmed on March 27 that season 4 is definitely happening. Hop on to know more.
Season 3: Here’s a quick recap
Castlevania Season 3 explores four storylines in the series, running parallel. The story picks up right where it had left off in season 2. With Dracula gone, the central characters are trying to etch their way in a world that is now devoid of absolute power.
It begins with Adrian Alucard Tepes trying to live a regular life in Dracula’s now immovable castle. He is seen hunting, fishing and cooking, but deep down within he is going mad after realising that he has been talking to doll replicas of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades.
But where are Trevor and Sypha? The two lovebirds are seen travelling from town to town, killing the monsters that Dracula had mercilessly unleashed upon the world.
On the other hand, we see Hector being dragged to Styria, the region controlled by Carmilla and her sisters. Now that Dracula is not in the picture, Carmilla plans to fill the power void by becoming the most powerful vampire queen in Europe.
As for the fourth parallel, we see Isaac going around the world, building his very own night creature army. Set on different personal journeys, none of the characters cross paths with each other in Season 3.
Although Dracula died in season 2, the season 3 finale teases fans with the possibility of Dracula’s return. Sala and his fellow monks are seen helping a Night Creature open a portal to Hell, allowing Dracula to escape back into the mortal world.
Season 4: Expected voice cast
The lead cast is expected to reprise their voice rolesvin season 4. Theo James will be lending his voice to the character of Hector, Richard Armitage to Trevor Belmont, Jessica Findlay to Lenore, Alejandra Reynoso to Sypha Belnades, Graham McTavish to Dracula, James Callis to Alucard, and Adetokumboh M’Cormack to Isaac.
So far, no official announcement has been made about the addition of new characters, but the chances cannot entirely be ruled out.
Trevor versus Dracula- the ultimate face-off
Wrongly accused of witchcraft and black magic, season 3 saw Dracula’s wife being set on fire by the church gods. The premise of season 4 will follow Dracula who is hell bent upon avenging his wife. He has cursed the people of Wallachia to pay for his loss with their lives.
With Dracula’s army of demons marching towards Wallachia, who will save the innocent people from his wrath? Amidst all this chaos, a monster hunter named Trevor Belmont is also introduced. So keep your popcorn ready, because season 4 will see the ultimate face-off between Trevor and Dracula, with the fate of thousands of Wallachians at stake.
In Season 3, Dracula was seen with his wife in Hell, strongly hinting at the possibility of a doorway to Hell, thus allowing for Dracula’s return. As a narrative device, the Infinite Corridor will be opening many storytelling possibilities.
When do we expect Castlevania season 4 to release?
There’s no official trailer for season 4 yet, but the makers have confirmed that work is in progress. Netflix also hasn’t officially announced the release date. But going by the previous pattern of release, every season of Castlevania has released after a gap of 15-16 months. Thus, we can expect season 4 to premiere by mid-2021. The animation of Castlevania being extremely detailed and intricate, it is expected that season 4 may take more time than the other Netflix releases.
However, as the global pandemic situation has brought life to an unforeseeable standstill, a delay might be on the cards. So, what do you think the fate of the town of Wallachia will be? Tell us in the comments below!
