Here comes another bad news! Some reports say Castlevania season 4 may never happen, and you can blame creator Warren Ellis for that.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for any sort of confirmation from Netflix or creator Warren Ellis on the release of Castlevania season 4. However, after such a long wait, some news has come in that may break hearts of millions. According to some reports, we might never get to see a new Castlevania season. And there are some strong reasons behind it.
- Netflix, Castlevania, and the season 4 cancellation.
- Warren Ellis is already out of the project.
- What’s the fate of Castlevania season 4?
Castlevania has been extremely popular among the fans of the adult animation series. The show was received with sheer excitement from the fans because of it being based on a Japanese video game series.
Netflix’s streaming list of video game shows includes Beastars, Devilman Crybaby, Dorohedoro and more. However, Castlevania has remained a fan-favourite from the very first season. As we are now waiting for a confirmation on the release date, these rumours might be devastating.
Netflix, Castlevania, and the season 4 cancellation
Castlevania, created by Warren Ellis, premiered on Netflix on July 7, 2017. Following the success of season 1, a second season with eight episodes was announced. On October 26, 2018, season 2 premiered on Netflix. It was then followed by a season 3 on March 5, 2020.
All the seasons had a gap of an average of 15 months between renewal confirmation and release. Fans were hoping that even though the gap between season 3 and 4 would be a year and a half, it would still see the light of day.
However, due to a series of allegations on creator Warren Ellis, it seems like Castlevania will never come to Netflix with a season 4.
Warren Ellis is already out of the project.
Warren Ellis has been the creator of the Castlevania series since it was picked up by Netflix in 2015. A report from The Hollywood Reporter suggests that the streaming service had already cut ties with the comics writer.
This has come after over 60 individuals accused Ellis of sexual harassment and abuse. Ellis was only one of many such comic industry entities caught in this wave.
Not only Netflix, several other studios have also removed Ellis from their projects, and this includes the latest by DC comics. Even though Ellis has denied the allegations publicly, as reported by CBR.com, studios want to keep a safe distance. It needs to be seen how this goes for the Comic industry and Castlevania with time.
What’s the fate of Castlevania season 4?
Considering the intensity of the allegations, Netflix has removed Warren Ellis from Castlevania. Netflix had already confirmed a season 4. On March 27, 2020, Netflix announced the renewal of the new season. But the production was halted in the initial phase due to the pandemic.
Till now, Netflix has shared no updates on the project, and further disturbance due to Ellis’ case has bred rumours of the show’s cancellation.
However, as per THR’s report, Ellis’ work was already done by the time this situation emerged. Also, Netflix hasn’t officially made any statement regarding the cancellation of the project. This means season 4 is still on, regardless of the exit of Warren Ellis from the Netflix show. But, you never know.
We still need to wait for a release date. What’s your prediction for the release date of your favorite show?
