Netflix’s 2016 situational comedy, The Ranch came as a boon to That ‘70s Show fans, as it reunited alums, Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson. Since The Ranch has already had appearances from several That ’70 Show actors, will we get to see more in season 5?

- The Ranch : A country way of living

- Is Netflix planning a season 5 with the entire cast of That ‘70s show?
The Ranch is an adult situational comedy created by Don Reo and Jim Patterson, aired between 2016 and 2020 on Netflix. Set in a fictional ranch called Iron River in Colorado, the series told the story of the Bennetts, a dysfunctional family of two brothers Colt (Ashton Kutcher) and Rooster (Danny Masterson), their father, Beau (Sam Elliott) and mother Maggie Bennett (Debra Winger). The series began with Colt returning home to repair his relationship with his family and rekindle the romance with his high-school sweetheart, Abby (Elisha Cuthbert). After 4 seasons, with numerous cameos and small roles by cast members of That ‘70s Show, fans want a full-blown encore, but that of The Ranch with the full cast of That ‘70s Show.

A country way of living
The Ranch had a typical country backdrop complimented by its use of classic country music. It honestly portrayed the struggles of families with its raw and candid dialogues and exhibited that no problem was too big to resolve with every episode. Despite being a comedy at its very core, the series used the lives and worries of its characters as its main source of humour, relying on creativity rather than dim-witted antics.
The series found widespread popularity and went on to become the longest multi-camera sitcom ever produced by Netflix at the end of its fourth and final season, with 80 episodes.
The That ‘70s Show connection
The sitcom reunited That ‘70s Show alumni, Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson. The two played brothers on The Ranch till the end of season 3 part 1, after which Masterson was unceremoniously fired from the series. In 2017, multiple women came up with rape allegations against Masterson during the #MeToo movement, forcing Netflix to take immediate action against him by writing his character off the show.
However, Masterson wasn’t the only actor from That ‘70s Show who featured on The Ranch. The show also saw appearances from Kurtwood Smith, Wilmer Valderrama, Debra Jo Rupp, and Bret Harrison, who had played important characters on the 1998 period sitcom.
The sitcom also brought in some of Kutcher’s Two and a Half Men connections, with Jon Cryer and Conchata Ferrell guest starring during its first two seasons.

Will a season 5 be a That ‘70s Show reunion?
Ever since The Ranch came to an end on Netflix, fans have not shied away from expressing their disappointment. The sitcom was hugely popular, and viewers believe that there is still a lot more that the makers should show. The series came to a standstill in 2017 with the sexual harassment complaints against Masterson, due to which his character was presumably killed off on the show. This attracted mixed reviews from critics as well as viewers. Also, fans were disappointed because the show ended without having any appearances from other That ‘70s Show alum such as Mila Kunis, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Tanya Roberts and Don Stark.
While talking about ending The Ranch, Kutcher said, “The story [of The Ranch] was told,” he said. “I love everything that we did. Everybody there was still highly in love with each other… We got to the point where we were able to let everybody know [that] this was the last season, and that we were going to wrap it up, so everybody had time to find their next gig.” He continued saying, “Netflix owns the show, so it’s not like there was this big syndication boon that’s going to come if we shoot two more seasons.”
A season 5 with the entire That ‘70s Show cast would be the perfect reunion for the 1998 sitcom and would make great television. However, this doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon, with reports suggesting that Netflix had always intended on the show running for not more than 4 seasons. For now, fans can only hope that a few years down the line, the show would be revived just so that they would get to see their favourite characters together on-screen one more time.
