The action star Tom Cruise had been filming “Mission: Impossible 7’ through the pandemic. He is currently busy filming ‘Mission: Impossible 8’, which does not yet have a title. Filming for the eighth film has also been postponed due to Tom Cruise’s commitment to promoting ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. The film, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, has been delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But, as it turns out, none of these obstacles, not even the budget, will dim the cast and crew’s enthusiasm for the films. In fact, Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ is said to have the most “expensive stunt” in the action franchise.

Tom Cruise is spending money like crazy
‘Mission: Impossible 8’ production is underway, and budgets are already skyrocketing. According to The Sun, Cruise is planning a stunt involving three biplanes, which could be the most expensive stunt ever. According to a source, Tom does not do anything half-heartedly, and the eighth ‘Mission: Impossible’ film, like Mission: Impossible 7, will be massive. For this production, no expense has gotten spared.

They also stated that the production’s action has only just begun, and Tom will be working on some of the franchise’s biggest and most expensive stunts to date. He rented three biplanes for stunts he practised in the UK last year. Tom learned to fly the planes, and now he will put everything he has learned to use.
‘Mission: Impossible 7’ and ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ are both large-scale productions. While the former began production in Italy only to get halted due to the pandemic, the makers’ confidence in the next instalment shows that sequel plans are still in the works.
‘Mission: Impossible 7’ has exceeded the budget?
As per some reports, the still-unfinished ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ has already exceeded its $290 million budget, thanks to tax breaks. That is the franchise’s highest score. Cruise has apparently persuaded Paramount CEO Brian Robbins to give him more money to finish the seventh and eighth films, claiming that inflation had driven up costs.
The decision to release ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ on the Paramount+ streaming app 45 days after the film’s theatrical release has strained relations between Cruise and the studio. The star actor is reportedly thinking about suing. However, he is believed to have put the matter on hold until the film’s production is completed.
Despite having starred in the franchise for over a quarter-century, Cruise retains creative control over it. In the 1996 film ‘Mission: Impossible’, directed by Brian De Palma, he played the iconic spy Ethan Hunt for the first time.
After the franchise hit rock bottom with the third instalment, which earned less than $400 million worldwide, Cruise brought it back to life. The fourth film, directed by Brad Bird, rekindled interest and grossed nearly $700 million worldwide. Each subsequent entry outperformed the previous one, with ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ leading the pack with nearly $800 million worldwide.
The original release dates for ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ and ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ were September 30, 2022, and July 7, 2023, respectively. ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ will now get released on July 14, 2023, and ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ will release on June 28, 2024.
