The highly anticipated Phase 4 movie from the MCU Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol 3 hasn’t even begun filming but there are rumours already swirling in the universe of the internet. The latest news from the Marvel Universe involves toying with the idea of saying goodbye to the franchise’s beloved character and we are not here for it. But, one must investigate.
Saying Goodbye But To Who?
Well, first of all the third instalment of the movie sees Chris Pratt returning as the beloved character Star Lord and is set not very long after the events of the movie Avengers: Endgame go down. The story though will not have any implication from Endgame’s plot and will primarily focus on Peter Quill and Gamora. (Finally!)
James Gunn script’s apparently includes not one but two deaths. According to the reports there are two deaths in the script– Rocket Raccoon and Nebula. Rocket Raccoon voiced by actor Bradley Cooper will have a death in the ending and Nebula earlier on.
With Nebula, she will be shown sacrificing herself for her new family; The guardians, this storyline seems fitting and not jumping out on the fence bringing her character development arc to a conclusion. But with the fan favourite Rocket Raccoon, well that one is going to hit home.

James Gunn also has made it clear that when it comes to the music for the film, he is not going to be holding back. Well, be prepared because intense emotional rock music with us saying goodbye forever to our smart, lovable and witty Rocket Raccoon is not going to be an easy task.
Also, how much did we really get to know about Rocket?
There are of course, fan theories. The most popular and probable one is that Thanos is Rocket’s creator. Thanos is (was) a mad tyrant who only ever wanted to obtain the infinity stones to rule the world. In Vol 2, we see Gamora and Nebula finally admitting the abuse they went through by the hands of their father a,which saw Nebula turning her back on her father and join the Guardians.
Also, let’s not forget about Rocket’s abusive past as well. Rocket was abused by his creator just like Nebula was. To top all of this, James Gunn tweeted saying that there actually is a hint in Vol 2 as to who Rocket’s father or creator is.
It won’t really be much of a leap if this theory proves to be true given that there are a few similarities between the two storylines. James Gunn also tweeted saying that Guardians of the Galaxy is about a group of beings who were abused and have in each other, found a home. (Cue the tears already!)
Although, speaking from experience one would be irresponsible to not mention that anything we ever hear from the Marvel universe unless seen on the screen is not to be believed.
No matter what this film brings for us, we’ll be watching it from the edge of our seats.
