Luke Hemsworth is a host on ‘Westworld’!
Since the first season, Luke Hemsworth was seen portraying one of the central characters on ‘Westworld’, Ashley Stubbs. He is the head of Westworld security and monitors host and human interactions to ensure the safety of the guests. He’s also responsible for investigating any park disturbances and follows orders assigned to him by Robert Ford, the park director.
He appears to be quite distrustful of hosts – life-like robots created for the entertainment of the park’s guests. After the fall of Westworld, Ashley discovers that he himself was stuck in a time loop and is a host. He was created by Robert Ford himself! The news was shocking to fans even though there were some hints that appeared along the way.

Later, Ashley was recruited by Bernard to help prevent Dolores’ attack on the real world. What came after was a gripping battle sequence, which left Ashley shot in the arm by Delos employees.
Luke Hemsworth’s scene-changing ‘Westworld’ injury
If you’ve been wondering why Stubbs, the head of security, was shot in the arm, let us tell you how! Shooting Ashley Stubbs in the arm was specifically written to hide the actor’s real-life injury which restricted his movements.
Luke Hemsworth sustained a terrible injury in a week meant to be action-packed for his character on ‘Westworld’ Season 3. His epic fight-scene with Dolores aka Evan Rachel Wood in episode four had to be majorly reframed for the same reason. In an interview with “Insider”, Luke Hemsworth shared the incident in detail.
“The funny thing is, the first big fight that I had when we’re leaving the park with the guys in the hallway, I actually snapped my bicep off the bone two days before that”
Hemsworth said.
“So when [Stubbs] gets shot in the arm, that was something we had to do because I couldn’t move my arm properly.”
If you’re wondering how the actor snapped his bicep off the bone, it was a DIY experiment gone wrong.
The actor thought his broken bicep would get him fired
An actor’s injury days before filming can be a director’s biggest nightmare, but the ‘Westworld’ Season 3 team was incredibly accommodating. Luke Hemsworth didn’t enjoy his fight scenes and was worried about getting fired, but nothing of that sort happened!
He reflected on his injury in an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter”.
“At the time, I didn’t [enjoy the fight scene] because I’d ruptured my bicep. My bicep had actually snapped off the bone. So the first fight scene with the guys in the hallway was done when I hadn’t had surgery at that stage.”
He added,
“And then, I think when I did the one with Evan, I’d had surgery. So my left arm was completely incapacitated in both fights. If you watch early in that first hallway fight, I get shot in the left arm and then I never use that arm again”.
“So that was something we worked into the story. I had to make a very sheepish call to production and say, ‘I’ve done this really stupid thing. What are we going to do?’ And then, all those fears and anxieties go through your head of, ‘Well, that’s it for me. I’m going to get fired’. Fortunately, for Hemsworth, his injury made the fight sequence better than before, and fans were impressed!
