As the anticipation surrounding ‘Lucifer’ Season 5B soars to an all-time high, its showrunners have revealed some frustrating news.
The devil never looked this good! On August 21st, 2020, Netflix dropped season 5A of its fantasy police-procedural series ‘Lucifer’ and it soared to the number 1 spot in a split second in a number of countries around the world. Viewers had to wait for 2 long years, before finally getting to see the Lord of Hell make his comeback, and they couldn’t be more delighted. This 2016 urban fantasy drama was initially produced by Fox before being cancelled with the conclusion of season 3. That is when Netflix stepped in to save the day and revived the series. ‘Lucifer’ has, over the years, become a fan favourite and its popularity has been instrumental in its longevity. Now that the anticipation for Lucifer season 5B is at an all-time high, the writers have revealed some disappointing information about its release.

‘Lucifer’ – The Lord of Hell who will make you fall for him!
‘Lucifer’ is based on a DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg. The show is developed by Tom Kapinos and follows Lucifer Morningstar, the devil who abandons Hell and comes to Los Angeles to rebel against his father, the God. After seeing the murder of a girl he had granted favour to, he becomes a consultant to the LAPD and starts working with detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) who is immune to his power of finding out a human’s deepest desire.
‘Lucifer’ was never a favourite of the critics but did create a widespread fandom for itself. Tom Ellis’ portrayal of the Lord of Hell has had the viewers swooning and drooling over him. With every season, the performances of the show have gotten better and so have the sub-plots and dialogues. It was initially announced that season 5 would be last and would end the series, however, on June 23rd, 2020, Netflix revealed via its official Twitter handle that the show will conclude with the sixth season.
Season 5A: It was Lucifer v. Michael
On August 21st, 2020 Netflix released season 5A to a smashing response and positive reviews from the critics. The series trended in most countries and was lauded by the viewers for its intriguing storyline and showing “a lot more” of Ellis. It was brother versus brother all the way as the season showed Lucifer’s twin brother Michael enter the story. The action-packed finale was the cherry on top and made for an incredible first part of season 5. With the foundation set for a lot more action, drama, and romance, fans have since been eagerly waiting for the second part of the season.
Season 5B updates: Everything we know yet!
The buzz surrounding Lucifer season 5B is at its peak right now since the makers of the show had expressed in 2020 that the second half of season 5 would release in early 2021. However, now the writers of the show have disclosed that they themselves are not sure when the season will release as it is not finished yet. Showrunner Ildy Modrovich too replied to fan on Twitter writing,
“Oh my dearest demons, if only I knew!!! We’ll tell you as soon as we know and are given the green light to share”.
This news has brought fans everywhere disappointment especially considering the delay in the arrival of season 5A itself! It has been said that the upcoming season will show a lot more of Michael and focus on his backstory and the cause of his shoulder injury. Modrovich confirmed, “We find out why he has it in [Season] 5B”. He goes on to say, “We explore it pretty in-depth“.
At the end of the day, we just hope that the upcoming episodes would be worth the wait and that all our questions that were left unanswered previously are addressed now. Did you enjoy season 5A of ‘Lucifer’? How do you feel about the delay in the release of season 5B? Tell us in the comments below.
