Lucifer has been to hell and it looks like its leading star, Tom Ellis, is planning on staying there after season 5 premiers on Netflix. Season 6 of ‘Lucifer’ might witness a new demon in town.
Since narrowly avoiding cancellation two years ago, ‘Lucifer’ has been to hell and back (excuse the pun). Netflix revived the show for two more seasons due to the fans outcry demanding that ‘Lucifer’ be brought back.

Can fans expect Tom Ellis to return as Lucifer Morningstar for season 6 or is someone else going to be replacing him? Scroll down to know more!
‘Lucifer’ Is Back With Season 5
It seems like Netflix has decided to play coy with its viewers. Even though the audience is well aware that ‘Lucifer’ season 5 is just around the corner, no official date has been announced yet. The titular star, Tom Ellis, has been kind enough to inform the fans that season 5 of ‘Lucifer’ will be aired in two parts.
Production of ‘Lucifer’ Season 5 was halted due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but the filming of the series is 99 percent done. This means that ‘Lucifer’ might be hitting our screens soon and planning to outgrow the fourth season’s viewership as well.
Netflix hasn’t marked an official release date for season 5 to allow the fans to enjoy the building tension. This anticipation will only lead the Netflix series into record-breaking viewership from around the world. And the poster for season 5 of ‘Lucifer’ clearly states- “See you in hell”. So, who is going to tell Netflix that we’re already in hell and are just waiting for Tom Ellis to show up?
Tom Ellis To Go In Season 6?
It seems like ‘Lucifer’ is one show which never has any answers to give but has all the questions to ask. There have been rumours circulating online that the lead star Tom Ellis and Warner Bros. have allegedly been unable to reach a neutral point in their contract for season 6.
Warner Bros., according to these rumours, has been doing everything to keep Ellis happy and on-board for season 6 of ‘Lucifer’ but to no avail. An insider was quoted saying, “Everyone wants Tom to be happy, but there’s a limit and it’s been reached”.
This limit has apparently pushed Warner Bros. to replace Tom Ellis from ‘Lucifer’ and introduce Ian Somerhalder from ‘The Vampire Diaries’ fame in the series. But, we wouldn’t go as far as to verify this rumour, and whether Ian Somerhalder is replacing him or just being added to the ever-growing cast of ‘Lucifer’ is yet to be disclosed. But what has the original fallen angel- Lucifer- seen so far?
‘Lucifer’ Season 4 Puts Lot of Responsibility on season 5
Season 4 of ‘Lucifer’ saw the fallen angel make the ultimate sacrifice by giving up the life he’d come to love on Earth and returning to hell to keep the demons in check. The tagline for season 5 reads “See you in hell”, so Lucifer returning to Earth anytime soon in the next season doesn’t seem likely.
Moreover, the longest journey in the show might have been Lucifer figuring out he isn’t a bad guy, after all, but for the audience, it was definitely Chloe and Lucifer admitting their feelings for each other. But with the show coming to an end, this deepest mystery needs to be answered: Will Chloe and Lucifer end up together?
And, if Netflix does decide to end the show with season 5, will all the cliff-hangers from season 4 of ‘Lucifer’ ever be answered for its loyal fans? The respite to these questions burning inside our heads will come to us in late 2020 when Netflix finally releasesseason 5 of ‘Lucifer’ and the world will be good again. Precisely why Lucifer is keeping the demons in check, isn’t it?
