Michael Jackson’s nephew talks about how the king of pop wished to play Spider Man in the 90s.
What if I tell you that if things had gone smooth, Michael Jackson would have been the owner of Marvel. Would you believe it? Hard sell, right?
But I could have been true had we not lost the iconic pop star back in 2009.

- Michael Jackson wished to play Peter Parker after overtaking Marvel in the 90s.
- His nephew Taj Jackson insists on how the iconic pop star was a huge fan of the
superhero. - Late Stan Lee had opened up about the situation a few years ago.
Back in the 90s, Marvel had filed for bankruptcy and look how far it has come. It was in 2009 that Disney acquired Marvel. However, Michael Jackson was also interested in buying the entity in the 90s. He couldn’t though.

In an interview with Popcorned Planet, late pop star Michael Jackson’s Taj Jackson revealed—
“He wanted to [buy Marvel] with Stan Lee, and they had been talking and discussing that. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. They were shut down from doing that,” Jackson told
Popcorned Planet. “I don’t know the reasons why, but they were adamantly in the process of doing that.”
Secret love, was it?
Michael Jackson was allegedly a huge fan of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man and wished to play the character. Taj believed that it was his love for the character that made him determined to buy the stakes.
In an interview with Moviefone in 2012, Marvel’s OG Stan Lee himself also confirmed this story, saying, “Yes, he wanted to. He felt that would be the only way that he could play Spider-Man.”
He added, “Besides Spider-Man, he was a huge Marvel fan. He knew all the characters. So it was not only Spider-Man [he wanted to buy]. But yeah, he probably wanted to be Spider-Man.”
Back to the future.
It was shocking to hear of Michael Jackson’s death. And it is safe to say that he would have been delighted to see how tremendously far Marvel has come today. Taj Jackson insists, “He would be so excited about it. He was such a movie buff in that way that I think he would have thought this is the greatest thing since sliced bread, all these characters coming together.”

Sure! With Avengers coming together, new phases venturing into multiverses, it would have been a treat for the man.
With all his moves and lanky build, Michael Jackson could may have been a decent Peter Parker. It is no surprise that many think otherwise. Sure, he wanted to bring in more cinematic variations to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but do you really think he could have justified the role of Peter Parker as a middle aged man?
