Johnny Depp’s image has been tainted in the mainstream media and on social media as a result of the woke movement as a whole. Is a new ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film in the works without Jack Sparrow?
Disney has created some of the most successful franchises of all time, including ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘. The franchise had five movies that collectively grossed over $4 million for the entertainment company. While it’s a well-established fact that the final two movies in the franchise seemed highly unnecessary, the initial trilogy was hugely acclaimed critically and commercially. Johnny Depp remained one of the highlights of the entire franchise, and without Captain Jack Sparrow, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is hard to imagine. There are rumours that there is going to be a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ soon, and is it hard to expect that Johnny Depp will at least have a cameo in the film?

Johnny Depp Pirates Cameo
The ongoing Johnny Depp-Amber Heard court case, which has done significant damage to the actor’s image over the years, is the source of any doubt. Johnny has been seen more in courtrooms and media trials than on movie sets. So, instead of being one of the sure bets for box office success, Depp has become a risky investment. Is Disney, a company known for its caution, willing to take that risk? Well, the benefits that Disney could reap may just outweigh the risks associated with working with Johnny again.
Greg Ellis, Depp’s co-star in the franchise, has nothing but praise for him. The actor who played Lt. Groves in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films has stated that ‘POTC’ would be impossible to imagine without Johnny Depp. “It would be like a ship without a captain”, he explained. If a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ film ever gets made, Ellis believes Johnny should be in it.

Greg further said that Johnny was at the centre in the previous POTC movies, and if the new film in the franchise is a continuation of that, Johnny must be there in the film. Not just a cameo, but playing a fully-fledged role. However, given Disney’s history of ‘playing it safe’, it seems highly unlikely that there will ever be a full-blown role for Johnny Depp in a Disney film. Even a cameo appearance seems highly unlikely.
That said, Disney has never mentioned that there was a chance of continuation of the franchise. However, the rumours have it that not one but two POTC films are under development right now. One of them is even rumoured to star Margot Robbie in it. Well, it all seems too far-fetched. Perhaps, Disney is waiting for the entire court case to be over and to have Johnny Depp on board once the ruling is in his favour. It’s all speculation for now.
