Jim Parsons and Amy Bialik join creative forces to bring hit British show Miranda to the American Audience. Call Me Kat finally has a green-light and will be released early next year.
It’s a time to rejoice for the Fans of The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler are making their way back to our screens again but not as their characters from the Big Bang Theory this time.
It was announced last year that Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik are joining forces once again in the remake of hit British series Miranda titled Call Me Kat.
- Miranda: The British Sitcom
- Call Me Kat: An Attempt To Survive?
- Call For Action in Call Me Kat
The upcoming comedy series is anticipated to hit our screens sometime around late 2020 and early 2021.
Here is everything we know so far.
Miranda: The British Sitcom
The famous comedian Miranda Hart successfully worked on a successful comedy series called Miranda that she wrote and acted in. The heights of British humour, the show centres around a semi-biographical tale of Miranda herself as she stumbles through the pretence of keeping her life together and running a joke shop.
The goofy-series focuses on Miranda and her disapproving mother Patricia Hodge who questioned her daughter’s every life choice. Miranda joins a long list of British shows which have had an American remake in hopes of introducing it to a bigger audience.
While some turned out to be quite successful like the The Office which went on to have mega global success there are others which have fell flat on their face. James Corden and Ruth Jones Gavin and Stacey or Jennifer Saunder’s Absolutely Fabulous, Broadchurch, The It Crowd are some of the falling on the face flat kind that did not survive their American adaptation.
But what does the future hold for Call Me Kat?
Call Me Kat: An Attempt To Survive?
The American version of Miranda, Call Me Kat does look promising though. Jim Parsons as the executive producer and Mayim Bialik as the star of the show have joined their creative minds together for the project.
The show will follow the story of Bialek’s character as she proves to her disapproving mother how she can be happy without having everything she wants. Bialik’s character will be shown using the money her parents had kept aside for her wedding to open a cat café in Louisville, Kentucky.
The show’s cast besides Bialik will include Swoosie Kurtz, Cheyenne Jackson, Leslie Jordan and Kyla Pratt.
But when is Call Me Kat going to release and will it precede the many failed attempts of the American Television world?
Call For Action in Call Me Kat
After the world coming to a standstill and film and TV productions coming to a halt all over the world, Call Me Kat’s future has been uncertain. But good news comes for those who wait!
The series after months and months of anticipation finally have a green-light and will release in the late 2020 and early 2021 cycle. In an environment of highly-competitive content, FOX network is showing a lot of trust pushing the show forward.
Call Me Kat is a strong, unapologetic, female-driven point of view show which focuses on the idea of what a women needs to be or do to be ‘truly happy’. Mayim Bialik who first proved her acting prowess in The Big Bang Theory as the dorky, fun Biologist earned herself 4 Emmy Nominations and 2 Critic Choice Awards.
So, it will be quite interesting to see her play another strong female lead but of a different kind.
And with that we can finally say, Shamy is back! And having said that we can only hope for a Jim Parsons cameo even though he’s serving as the EP.
