How is ‘Jessica Jones’ so strong?
The physical strength of Jessica Jones is far more resistant to certain types of injuries, particularly, impact forces. In a face-off, when various guns were pointed at her, she held them off by saying that it would only ruin her jacket. However, she later confessed that she did not know if she was bulletproof.
When Jones was slashed by a knife in the back by one of Owl’s men, it only caused a slight wound. We have seen her battle against the Avengers, during which she suffered severe injuries after being punched in the face by Vision. However, she was still able to bear the effects of a punch by a human on Mutant Growth Hormone. Jones was also knocked to the floor after she found herself in the middle of Spider Woman’s “Venom Blasts“, but was able to recover in seconds.
She was also caught up in a building explosion, which surprisingly managed to just ruin her attire. Jones was once thrown away from an Ultimo robot. As she slid along the street, a ditch was dug with her body. Much to our amusement, she suffered only minor injuries. Although it is highly unlikely that Jones is bulletproof, it’s her accelerated healing, strength, and durability (she acquired after being exposed to radioactive chemicals in an accident) that enables her to recover from any broken body part quicker than the normal rate.
Why was ‘Jessica Jones’ cancelled?
On February 18, 2019, Netflix’s Marvel show ‘Jessica Jones’ was cancelled along with ‘The Punisher’. The news of its third season and final season was released by Netflix in a statement.
Gratitude was expressed for showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the crew, and the cast including star Jon Bernthal who delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans. In addition, they expressed that the upcoming third season will also be the final season. They appreciated showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, Krysten Ritter, and the entire cast and crew, for delivering three incredible seasons that has been recognized by the Peabody Awards. “We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning”.
The news of the final season of ‘Jessica Jones’ wasn’t much of a surprise as other Netflix-Marvel partnerships like ‘Luke Cage‘, ‘Daredevil‘, and ‘Iron Fist‘ had already been cancelled. ‘Jessica Jones’ is also the last of Netflix’s Marvel series to air after the streaming giant cut its ties with Disney owned Marvel, as it had strategically decided to have more of its own original content.

Despite ‘Jessica Jones’ ending, the creators managed to bring back Luke Cage who made a debut in the show’s first season. In an interview with “Hollywood Reporter”, Melissa Rosenberg confirmed how they were considering bringing another established Marvel characters for the finale. “The group is an organic fit within our world. And our world’s so different from the other characters’ worlds that it can become jarring to our show, to have someone step in from another world. But because Mike Colter was part of the conception of our world, he blends quite perfectly”. She managed to include a touch of Jessica Jones’ greatest enemy Kilgrave, through his voice, as she felt it would be perfect and he exists in her mind.
