Director James Gunn has given Marvel fans food for thought after announcing that there might not be a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 4’. Undoubtedly, his direction has given us some of the best Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. And over the years, we have all grown fond of him.
So, could ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ really be his last project with Marvel Studios?

Ever since 2014, when his first Guardians of the Galaxy movie came out, Gunn has shown his brilliance at directing a Marvel movie. Thanks to this, the 2014 movie made the Guardians, household names.
But James Gunn had more in the store. He put on the director’s shoes yet again for Guardians of the Galaxy’s sequel that released in 2017. Later, the superheroes teamed up with the Avengers against Thanos.
James Gunn To Quit Marvel After Guardians Of The Galaxy 3
Now, Gunn was actively involved with Guardians of the Galaxy 3 until the ongoing pandemic hindered Marvel Studios’ plans. While there is a new Marvel Phase 4 schedule in place, James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy does not appear in it.

Apparently, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has either been shifted to Marvel Phase 5, or it will be sandwiched between the new Phase 4 schedule.
Marvel fans are looking forward to his next movie. But sadly that project will be the end of James Gunn’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the latest Instagram Q&A session, James Gunn confirmed that there will be no Guardians of the Galaxy 4. After that, the director will be done with the standalone franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Indeed, it might be shocking for some that James Gunn is not going to return to Marvel and there will not be a Guardians of the Galaxy 4. But it is not an indifferent trend. Most franchises have ended after the third movie in the series.

But on the other hand, an exception to this lies inhouse, Thor: Love and Thunder. Fans will be left disappointed as Guardians of the Galaxy ends. Well, a ray of hope does show that the franchise might continue without James Gunn.
