Highlights —
- ‘The Ranch’ is all about Ashton Kutcher
- ‘The Ranch’ and ‘That ‘70s Show’ have a lot in common
- ‘The Ranch’ and ‘That ‘70s Show’ crossover that we need
The show first premiered in April 2016 to critical acclaim and starred Ashton Kutcher as Cole Bennett, a former semi-pro football player. He returned to his family’s Colorado ranch to restore his relationships with his family.
The fans of the show were left disappointed when the show ended, but the rumour mill is doing its work. There is a rumour that the show might be coming back but with the cast of ‘That ‘70s Show’.
Let’s find out what’s cooking.
‘The Ranch’ is all about Ashton Kutcher
‘The Ranch’ closed shop after eight very successful seasons, and it remains to be one of the most casually profane multi-cam setup sitcoms. Though an outcry for season 9 is nothing short of fans begging executive producer and the lead in the show, Ashton Kutcher, for a revival.
Kutcher as Colt Bennett has effortlessly brought his A-game to the series. In Colt, a faded football star who fizzled out in the big leagues, Kutcher has found the perfect vessel for his rough-boy next door charm. In Kutcher’s character as Colt, we see a golden boy who’s lost his big shot in life and instead of being a bully, in his more self-reflective moments, is sad and accepts it.
But not only is Kutcher the charming lead on the show, but he is also the person who has produced all eight seasons and is hugely responsible for the success that the show has seen.
So, when the rumours of Ashton Kutcher bringing back the show with the cast of the ‘That ’70s Show’ started doing rounds, we were naturally very interested given the history and connections these shows share.
‘The Ranch’ and ‘That ‘70s Show’ have a lot in common
We remember ‘That ‘70s Show’ as being one of the funniest shows on TV with an equally hilarious cast to add on to the fun. The cast included Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Laura Prepon, Topher Grace, Wilmer Valderrama, and Danny Masterson.
When Ashton Kutcher produced his hilarious series, he took on Danny Masterson in the role of Rooster, his older brother in the show. Masterson’s character Hyde on ‘That ‘70s Show’ was the definition of cool with an effortless charm that comes with a ‘bad-boy’ attitude.

But Danny Masterson in real life has recently been slapped with not one but many allegations of sexual assault following which he was fired from ‘The Ranch’.
His character, Rooster, was killed off in a brutal motorcycle accident that dramatically altered the series in season 6. To fill the gap with his departure, Dax Shepherd joined the talented cast as a cousin of the family, Luke Mathews.
But Danny Masterson’s stint on the show made one thing crystal clear: ‘That ‘70s Show’s’ cast is just as popular as it was the year it premiered.
So, is ‘The Ranch’ coming back with the cast of ‘That ‘70s Show’?
‘The Ranch’ and ‘That ‘70s Show’ crossover that we need
Well, to start, Ashton Kutcher has been hinting at a possible revival for the show for a while now. And the executive producer and lead star of the show is the husband of the very popular and talented Mila Kunis. Kunis, who was only 14 when she starred in ‘That ‘70s Show’ as Jackie Burkhart instantly became a fan-favourite to her audience who admired the young actor’s acting skills and great comic timing.
It is not hard to imagine her in ‘The Ranch’ along with Colt Bennet and the rest of the gang. Laura Prepon, fresh off the success from her role as Alex Vause in ‘Orange Is The New Black’ is also rumoured to join the cast along with her ‘That ‘70s Show’ co-star Topher Grace.
No word on if Wilmer Valderrama will be joining ‘The Ranch’ for season 9, so until all rumours are confirmed, we are going to be watching re-runs of not one but two shows starring Ashton Kutcher.
