What happened in episode-7 of Marvel’s WandaVision’? Spoiler Alert!
If you have been following ‘WandaVision’, you know that at the end of ‘WandaVision’ episode-6, Wanda expanded the Hex to save Vision from dying the third time. The Hex swallowed some of the SWORD agents and ironically turned them into clowns. It also swallowed Dr Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings).
The first 25 minutes of episode-7 of ‘WandaVision’ mirrors the phrase “Silence before the storm”. Things around were not totally sorted, with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) partially losing control of her magical surroundings, but things were still normal with Vision (Paul Bettany) being fit and fine and meeting Dr Darcy Lewis.
Towards the finale of episode-7, we see Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) becoming the superhero all the fans were waiting for her to become. She confronts furious Wanda but fails as Agnes interrupts. Agnes then takes Wanda with her, as Wanda warns Monica to leave.
What follows this silence is the stormy reveal of the big bad villain of ‘WandaVision’.

Episode-7 reveals the big-bad villain of ‘WandaVision’
‘WandaVision’ has thousands of fan-theories floating around the internet, and almost all the possibilities of heroes, and villains, to appear in the show have been predicted for the sake of prediction. Yet, when Marvel revealed the big-bad villain in ‘WandaVision’ episode-7, it took our breaths away.
Wanda isn’t the villain of ‘WandaVision’ anymore as everything flips in episode 7 – and fans aren’t loving it.
In episode-7, Agnes reveals to Wanda that she’s Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), and she has been controlling everything in what Wanda thought was her reality. She even played Vision when Vision was on his way to breach the barrier.
Even the return of Pietro (Evan Peters), aka Quick Silver, was an act of Agatha. The insane ending of ‘WandaVision’ episode 7 re-wrote the fans’ perception of the show. It revealed the villain, raised the stack with Wanda now in the custody of Agatha, made the twins disappear, and a lot more.
However, as exciting and breathtaking as all the revelations in episode 7 were, the revelation of the villain ruined what the fans were loving the most about the show.
How the revelation of Agatha ruined what fans loved about the show
‘WandaVision’ proved to be an interesting take on the story of Wanda and her grief that she had been carrying for so long. Her grief was burdened by Pietro’s death and finally broke her with Vision’s death, twice.
Wanda’s motivation to create a Wanda anomaly to resurrect Vision and live a happy life with him was legit. Wanda’s grief being the villain of her own story in this show was also justified. Wanda creating an alternate reality with her powers and controlling all of it was the perfect route for Marvel to take to show Wanda as the most powerful Avenger, in line with the comics.
Marvel could have still pulled off the introduction of Agatha Harkness, possibly Mephisto as well, without diluting the magic of Wanda that had been established till now.
All of a sudden, Wanda is not the most powerful anymore as she’s now in the custody of Agatha. We now have to face the reality that Wanda wasn’t controlling everything in the show. All of it again is the outer forces manipulating Wanda. It’s no more the destined resolution of Wanda’s grief and her confrontation and fight with her own demons.
All of these revelations in ‘WandaVision’ episode 7 dilute the overall impact of the story and kind of ruins that the fans were loving most about the Marvel show.
What do you think? Was it better with Wanda controlling everything and just underplaying the role of a villain? Or do you think Agatha Harkness’s revelation as the current villain is the better take? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
