Will ‘Grace and Frankie’ back with season 7?
Since the time season 6 of ‘Grace and Frankie’ dropped earlier this year, fans have been waiting for an update on its next season. After Netflix renewed it for a new season, the joy sadly lasted only for a while. In mid-march, the fate of ‘Grace and Frankie’ and many other Hollywood shows came to a halt after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. This was confirmed by “Deadline”. Since then the cast and crew have been awaiting their callback to the show.
A virtual table read of the season 7 premiere was held for charity (Meals on Wheels) in April. It was titled ‘The Fallout’ and was moderated by Marta Kauffman.
In an interview to AI Roker on “Today”, Jane Fonda confirmed that after a long nine-month break the filming will resume in January 2021.
“We’re gonna go back the third week of January”, said Fonda.
As all of the leads are older, they have taken extra precautions. She further added that she misses her co-workers and friends, especially Lily Tomlin who plays her best friend Frankie. “I love Lily. When I don’t see her on a regular basis, I need a fix”. In the interview, she recalled how everyone is very close and that it is a happy set.
Earlier ‘Grace and Frankie’ Season 7 was planned to be released in early 2021. Despite no official announcement or confirmation regarding the release date, fans can expect an early 2022 release as all its past seasons have hit Netflix around the new year. This also assumes that the filming will go as planned and the pandemic will not play the role of a party pooper.

Has ‘Grace and Frankie’ been cancelled?
Sadly, the long-run of ‘Grace and Frankie’ has come to an end. The seventh season will be the final season. This news was confirmed in 2019. Both Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin released a joint statement confirming the same.
“We are both delighted and heartbroken that ‘Grace & Frankie’ will be back for its seventh, though final, season.”
They mentioned how grateful they were that their show was able to deal with issues that have really connected to their grand generation and their kids. Fonda and Tomlin further added that they will miss the two old gals, Grace and Frankie, as much as many of their fans will, but they still will be around.
The co-creator of ‘Grace and Frankie’, Marta Kauffman gave further clarity on the reason behind the show’s discontinuation. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, she recalled how it was a combination of things. It was also since Netflix isn’t planning on doing long-term series anymore. However, they felt really lucky to get a seventh season. Kauffman recollected how, when they started, they had imagined seven seasons. But she also acknowledged how this was the kind of decision that comes from Netflix. “But as sad as I am that it’s ending, there’s something that makes sense about it”, Kauffman told the newspaper.
