- Michael: The real king of hell?
- The identity crisis in season 5
Lucifer is ‘returning with the protagonist’s twin brother, one whose existence was unknown to the world until the trailer for Season 5 dropped and sent fans into a frenzy. What kind of havoc will this revelation bring to season 5? Let’s find out.
Lucifer’s twin is the enigma In Season 5
Season 5 of Lucifer is set to hit Netflix in two parts. While Part 1 will air on August 21, no information has been revealed on the second. Ahead of the series arrival, the show-makers took to Twitter to create a hype over the insane reveal of Lucifer’s twin brother, Michael.
But that is not all the Twitter account has done. Following the reveal, the account has been hinting at major plotlines for season 5, some of which point at Michael’s superiority in comparison to his twin brother. Fans fear that Michael might end up taking control over Lucifer’s life in season 5.
Before we jump into any conclusion, who exactly is Michael? And why has the official Twitter account of the show tweeted saying, “The devil works hard but Michael works harder?”
Michael: The real King of Hell?
Michael’s backstory in DC Comics is nothing short of legendary and hints at what fans can expect from his character.
In the biblical text, which inspires both Lucifer and Michael’s characters, Lucifer wages a war against God. But he is outnumbered and defeated by his Archangel brother Michael, who uses God’s power to destroy Lucifer’s power. God, as a punishment for waging war, banishes Lucifer to hell.
Throughout the comics, the brothers reunite for one cause or the other. But the one constant theme in these comic-book series is Michael’s refusal to partner alongside Lucifer. This refusal to see eye-to-eye with Lucifer has the fans worried that Michael might be more trouble than what the newly-appointed King of Hell can handle. But that is not all, there is more trouble to steer clear of.
Identity crisis in Lucifer and Michael
If you think that Lucifer and Michael will end up facing each other in Hell, that’s where you’re wrong. While the former is busy ruling over Hell, much to his dismay, Michael is taking over his life on Earth by impersonating him.
The long-lost twin brother will likely show his dominance over mortals and set his sights on his brother’s love interest Chloe Decker, and go all the ways to slowly steal the life Lucifer has built for himself.
So, the place where Lucifer and Mchael will face each other is not the home that Lucifer was banished to, but the home he built for himself. Fans are reassured that Lucifer will return to Earth, to Chloe, and defeat Michael.
But who will win? Only time can tell. The shows went on a really long and unexpected hiatus following delays caused by a coronavirus and we would expect nothing else than a sinister return for the King of Hell, whoever that is going to be.
