Ever since Avengers: Endgame ended and with that a decade long saga incorporating of 22 movies, fans have been wondering who the next big villain of the MCU universe is going to be. The world of Marvel is not short of mighty- larger than life villains so the guessing game is certainly a hard one to narrow down.
So, MCU stands in the way for some brand new villains and plotlines to support them but who will replace Mad Titan Thanos and why?

- But what makes this cosmic being worthy of being the next big villain?
Swimming Through The Galaxy: Cosmic Way
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never stop searching for clues and Easter Eggs in the movies and a new fan theory suggests the answer to who MCU’s next big villain is, has been with us for a while.
An eagle-eyed fan has observed some earth-shattering detail in the Guardians of The Galaxy. The moment in the film where The Collector explains the Infinity Stones to the Guardians we see a humanoid face that Second Son claims is the Sentience of the Universe, a cosmic abstract from the Marvel comics that’s basically the embodiment of life in a previous universe.
And that face fans are quick to notice belongs to one of Marvel’s most powerful cosmic being Galactus.
Could Glactus been the next insurmountable foe to bring the MCU to their knees?
Galactus: A Villain Mightier Than Thanos
There is perhaps no doubt of MCU moving towards a more cosmic slate of movies before firing director James Gunn who is reportedly back to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. And director James Gunn in infamous for putting Easter Eggs in his movies, too.
But what makes this cosmic being worthy of being the next big villain?
Classically a Fantastic Four villain, Galactus could smooth out the introduction of Fantastic Four into the MCU and help Avengers defeat him. A feat not easy as what makes Galactus even scarier than Thanos is that he is what Thanos strives to be- part of the balance of the Universe itself.
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Avengers are using their powers and energy to defeat a madman whose powers derive from a powerful artifact but how will they defeat a cosmic villain whose purpose is facilitated by the universe itself.
And the potential stories that Galactus ends up tying together are no less interesting as well. Galactus has consumed the Skrulls home planet, forcing them to become the desperate and helpless alien race that we know. We first got an introduction to Skrulls in Captain Marvel movie and it ties it together very well indeed.
Galactus: The One To Fear
Galactus is an ancient being, a true force of nature in the cosmos. He is on the same level as the celestials, he might as well be god.
The origin of Galactus dates back before the Big Bang. Before the Big Bang, he was a humanoid known as Galan. As a space explorer, at the centre of his universe’s collapse he came across a Cosmic Egg. And in a last minute hope to save his world from ending he flew straight into the cosmic egg.
What emerged from the dust was a new universe and Galan reborn as Galactus. An immortal who sustains the life of other planets to stay immortal, he will continue to do so.
Imagine what God’s power would be, that for you is Galactus.
Not only Galactus is a powerful successor to Thanos, he could also be used together to tie together stories, integrate introductions and team formations in the MCU universe. What do you think? Is Galactus the next big villain? Let us know in the comments below!
