Top 5 hidden details in Lucifer season 5 on Netflix – Spoiler alert!
Since Lucifer, starring Tom Ellis, was once cancelled by Fox after season 3, it feels so fulfilling to discuss season 5 in 2020. Lucifer, one of the most loved, at the same time controversial, show debuted on Fox in January 2016 and ran for three successful seasons till May 2018. After that, because of the falling viewership, despite the positive audience response and critical acclaims, Fox had to cancel the show.
Fortunately, the show was later picked up by Netflix, and with its humongous response and viewership, it had successfully seen the premiere of season 5 part 1 this year. While we all are waiting for part 2, let’s find out what we overlooked in season 5 part 1.
The only blade that can kill the Devil
In Season 5 of Lucifer on Netflix, one of the hidden details you might have missed lies in “the only blade that can kill the Devil”. While investigating Diablo’s murder case, when Ella finds the Blade that killed him, she terms it “the only blade that can kill the Devil”. Like many, you too might have missed that this was a callback to Azrael’s blade in episode “Trip to Stabby Town” in season 2. In that episode, during a scuffle between Lucifer and Dan, Dan nearly scratches Lucifer with that blade. Thank God, Lucifer wasn’t killed.

“When Hell freezes over, Lucifer”.
Another hidden reference in season 5 of Netflix shows Lucifer at a rather not okay place for us to sneak into. It comes straight from the bedroom and right after Lucifer and Chloe get their score settled for the first time with the most devilish thing that we often call sex. When Lucifer asks Chloe if she feels cold, it was a direct reference to season 1. In season 1 Chloe tells Lucifer, “I will never, ever, ever sleep with you”. To which Lucifer says, “Playing hard to get, I like it”. And in response, Chloe says, “When Hell freezes over, Lucifer.” Feeling cold in season 5?
A tribute to 2001: A Space Odyssey
Though this was slightly tricky to connect, for fans of Space Odyssey and Stanley Kubrick’s films, this hidden detail in Lucifer season 5 should have been highlighted. When in season 2, Chloe investigates a space simulation at a tech billionaire’s, the show visually recreates the moments from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

A Tribute to The Shining
Yes, season 5 of Lucifer had another hidden detail dedicated to Stanley Kubrick. By this time, we won’t be surprised if the creators dedicate an entire episode to him in he next season. In episode 7 when Chloe and Lucifer enter the corridor of the home of a man they are investigating, we see a little boy paddling down a tricycle through the corridor.
The scene is exactly like Danny Torrance riding down the corridors of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. To make it more prominent, the floor’s texture from the movie was given to the walls. And a piece of music similar to one from The Shining was playing in the background.
Adriana Nassar – the daughter of Netflix’s Originals manager.
Season 5 of Lucifer was so into sprinkling funny details that it didn’t even spare Netflix and it’s managers. We see the name of Linda’s daughter, who is Adriana Nassar. It is no coincidence that the name is borrowed from the Netflix Originals manager’s daughter.
These were the only five hidden details in season 5 of Lucifer among so many others. But we are pretty sure that you must have already caught most of them. Do let us know in the comments below.
