Netflix’s show ‘Lucifer’ will make its way to our screens for the last time in late 2020. And fans may have to deal with a sad ending for the king of hell!
‘Lucifer’ is one of those shows which has been to hell and back (pun intended). What started as a favourable journey for the show has survived a whole lot of bumps to reach the much-awaited release of its fifth season.
After ‘Lucifer’s’ initial cancellation by FOX network in 2018, after just three seasons, all seemed doomed for the show. But, fans of the show were far from insatiable. One heavily signed online petition later, Netflix picked up ‘Lucifer’ and renewed it for two more seasons.
- ‘Lucifer’ is coming back with a bang
- Is ‘Lucifer’ the “good demon” in season 5?
- Eve and Chloe battle it out
And, while season 6 is still debatable, season 5 of ‘Lucifer’ has fans wondering if the show will end on a sad note.
What will it be? Let’s find out!
‘Lucifer’ Is Coming Back With A Bang
Season 5 of ‘Lucifer’, if everything was right in the world, would have been out by now. But as the world is going through a Covid-19 crisis right now, the series has left the fans on a standstill.
Season 4 of ‘Lucifer’ saw that the devil’s work is never over. Tom Ellis, in the titular role, saw the fallen angel Lucifer go through an identity crisis. Season 3 finale saw Lucifer kill Cain and Chloe finding out his real identity. To make matters more complicated, his girlfriend from hell, Eve (Inbar Levi) also decides to pay the king of hell a long-due visit.
On the other hand, the self-loathing Lucifer found himself torn between Eve, who loves all the bad parts Lucifer has to offer, and Chloe, who brings out the best in him. At the end of the fourth season, luckily, we see Lucifer embracing the good side in him and telling Chloe that he loves her.
Is Eve going to take revenge on Chloe for stealing Lucifer away?
Lucifer Is The Good Demon in Season 5
But the trouble for Lucifer didn’t stop with just choosing Chloe and moving on. The people of hell were hell-bent on getting Lucifer to come back to hell and rule the kingdom that is rightfully his. For that, a whole lot of demons descended to Earth to convince Lucifer to come back.
Lucifer, knowing he cannot do that and retain his good side, declines the offer. The demons then kidnap the nephilim baby, Charlie, with the intention of making him the king. But with Eve, Maze, and Amenadiel by his side, Lucifer puts a stop to the demons’ plans.
Knowing they will eventually come back, Lucifer makes the hard but responsible decision of leaving Earth and returning to hell, believing that he really can be both the king of hell and a good angel. But, before descending to the pits of hell, Lucifer tells Chloe that not only does he love her, Chloe is his first love and not Eve.
Does this declaration of love from Lucifer promise trouble between Chloe and Eve in ‘Lucifer’ Season 5?
Eve and Chloe Battle It Out In Lucifer Season 5
Telling someone you love them, while someone else you loved is still in love with you, can be a tricky territory to be in. Lucifer, at the end of season 4, finally tells Chloe something we’ve been waiting to hear since we first saw the pair bicker with each other in season 1.
Lucifer not only wants to be good for Chloe, but he also wants to give up the title of the king of hell for her, a place where Eve thinks Lucifer really belongs. The common denominator being Chloe, season 5 could potentially end with Eve killing Chloe and making sure Lucifer has no business left on Earth, and he continues to stay right where he belongs- with her in hell.
And as Season 5 has one episode still left to shoot, ‘Lucifer’ won’t make its way to our screens, even if hell freezes over, any time before late 2020.
