Euphoria : Teenage drama meets tragedy
Sex, drugs, mental health concerns, trauma, violence, self-awareness, friendships and love – ‘Euphoria’ blends these complex subjects into the teen drama mould with remarkable ease. The show is known for its edgy, twisted, and harrowing take on life and revolves around a group of high schoolers struggling with emotional and mental issues.

Its attractive young and diverse cast comprising of Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney, is undoubtedly the best part of the show and carries the drama on its very capable shoulders. The show has also won praise and accolades for its music which has been created by the popular English singer, songwriter, and record producer Labrinth.
Rotten Tomatoes gave Euphoria a rating of 82% fresh with the official concesus reading,
“Though at times hard to watch, Euphoria balances its brutal honesty with an empathetic – and visually gorgeous – eye to create a uniquely challenging and illuminating series, held together by a powerfully understated performance from Zendaya.”
Season 2 : Everything we know
Season 2 of Euphoria has been delayed quite a bit as its production came to an abrupt halt due to the coronavirus pandemic this year. However, after the Emmy Awards, HBO president Casey Bloys revealed that season 2 will likely begin filming in “early 2021.” The cast members of season 1 are set to reprise their respective roles. The cast is also set to add some new faces one whom is Kelvin Harrison Jr., who has previously starred in the critically acclaimed movie Waves.
Bloys also made a surprising cryptic statement in an interview with TVLine saying that the show is most probably going to have a limited length. He was quoted saying,
“Well, [the characters] are in high school, so there are only so many seasons it can go. There’s a time limit. There is no set plan. But I don’t think you want 30-year-olds playing [high school students].”
The upcoming Christmas special episodes
HBO is giving Euphoria 2 special episodes that will bridge the gap between freshman outing and the second season of the series. This exciting news first surfaces when Zendaya spoke of giving fans bridge episodes shot in a safe environment with a limited number of people while they patiently wait for season 2.
The first special episode is titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always”, is written and directed by series creator Sam Levinson. It is set to premier on December 6th, 2020. The episode will show Zendaya’s character Rue celebrating Christmas. Hunter Schafer was also announced to be featuring in the episode.
There could not be a better piece of news for Euphoria fans as season 2 has been delayed greatly due to the pandemic. These 2 episodes will finally allow fans to see their favorite characters together especially after the show was showered with accolades at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.
