Eurus: The Master of Disguise
Considered an ‘era-defining genius’, Eurus Holmes is the sister of Sherlock and Mycroft. She is revealed to the audience in “The Lying Detective” as a master of disguise. At first, she disguises in “The Six Thatchers” as Elizabeth, who meets and flirts with John Watson on a bus. They end up in a texting relationship, but Watson ends it soon. Then, Eurus disguises herself as John’s therapist, Ursa, and Faith Smith who pleads help from Sherlock. It is also Eurus’s first on-screen interaction with Sherlock.
One can clearly identify with Enola as an intelligent and laudable counterpart of the Holmes’ clan.
In the third episode of the fourth season, Eurus manipulates Sherlock, Mycroft, and John in Sherrinford. She makes them go through a series of tests. It is during this episode that we get to learn that at a young age, Eurus was admitted into Sherrinford, after she had supposedly killed Victor Trevor, Sherlock’s best friend, and burned down the Holmes’s house out of jealousy of their friendship.

Mycroft was the only Holmes aware of Eurus’s existence. His parents and Sherlock presumed they had lost her in the fire. In ‘Sherlock’ Season 4, Eurus deceits everyone by lying about placing bombs. A challenge by her puts her brothers under immense torture when they have to save a little girl who is trapped mid-air on a plane. However, much to our shock, the little girl on the phone turned out to be an analogy for Eurus herself! The plane was a metaphorical plane where she felt stuck and just wanted her brother by her side. Since she is mostly on a killing spree in ‘Sherlock’ Season 4, to sympathize with her personality is highly challenging.

Netflix releases ‘Enola Holmes’
Netflix recently introduced fans of the detective series to Sherlock’s other younger sister, Enola Holmes. Sherlock has another sister? Much to the shock of fans, the Netflix original film features the youngest Holmes sibling, Enola Holmes. Soon enough one can clearly identify with Enola as an intelligent and laudable counterpart of the Holmes’s clan. She is shown as a proto-feminist who has been taught varied unfeminine skills such as martial arts, and credits her mother for it- “I was taught to watch and listen. I was taught to fight. This is what my mother made me for.” Her individuality and sense of righteousness are presented in the light of the Women’s Suffrage Movement that rose in England in the nineteenth century.
The film ends with a monologue which lets us deep into her driven yet sharp persona: “To be a Holmes, you must find your own path, my brothers have, my mother has, and I must too. She wanted me to find my freedom, my future, my purpose.”
Enola Holmes challenges the prejudices set by the Victorian values. It is being highly appreciated by fans of the Holmes series
Sherlock and his teen sister Enola
On the day of her sixteenth birthday, Enola wakes up to a few birthday gifts and her missing mother. Her two brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock, are quick to pounce on the situation. While Mycroft has intended to send his sister away to a finishing school, Enola has her own fearless plans.
Fans of the show get to see another side of Sherlock Holmes. He is much quieter than his usual self and plays the role of a supporting brother with sheer sublimity. His compassion for her choices and support for them is further unveiled when he tells Elona:
“The choice is always yours. Whatever society may claim, it can’t control you.”
Sherlock appreciates Enola’s fearlessness and intelligence and recognizes her detective skills despite her tender age.
Not only are her sleuth-hound skills notable, but Enola Holmes challenges the prejudiced times set by the Victorian values, which is being highly appreciated by fans of the Holmes series.
While Eurus left no chance to play manipulative mind games as per her will in ‘Sherlock’ Season 4, Enola is the complete opposite. She uses her brilliance to discover her missing mother through her detective skills. Hence, we can easily affirm that Enola Holmes is perfectly alike to Sherlock. Do you agree?
