Emily in Paris : Stylish, Sophisticated and Satisfying
The series revolves around Emily (Lily Collins), a young American woman in her early 20s who moves to Paris from Chicago after getting a job opportunity there. She starts working with a French marketing firm and has the task of bringing the American point of view to the table.
Alone in an unfamiliar city, the series follows Emily on her adventures as she learns more about herself and the city, makes new friends and finds love.
The show has received generally positive reviews and has been praised for its taut script and chic characters. It allows its viewers to escape their busy lives and get engrossed in Emily’s vibrant, campy and quirky world.
The 10-episode long season 1 ended on quite a cliff-hanger leaving its audiences wondering who Emily will ultimately end up with – Gabriel or Mathieu. The entire season had fans rooting for the two men and so, a second season is absolutely needed to reveal Emily’s choice.
Season 2 : What will it be about?
Hinting at more relationship drama in the upcoming season, created Darren Star revealed,
“Emily is going to have a lot of complicated choices with a lot of the men in her life. Certainly with Gabriel, who’s been the primary relationship, but also her primary relationship is also with Camille, who she really became very good friends with — and I think Emily’s the kind of girl that would never want to betray a friend. So I think it’s given Emily a real moral dilemma. We haven’t really seen the potential of Emily and Mathieu’s relationship yet. I think Emily’s is going to have some surprising choices to make next season.”

Lily Collins too has expressed her anticipation over her character’s growth. She said in a recent interview that she hopes for a season 2 as there is still a lot more to her character than what has already been shown in season 1. Collins and Star have also acknowledged that Emily has a lot of tough decisions ahead of her, considering the complicated nature of most of her relationships and friendships. It will be interesting to see how Emily will navigate through more exasperating situations in both personal and professional spheres of her life.
Also, last week the series was a hot topic of confab when Lily Collins said that Emily is around 22 years of age! Fans found this very confusing especially because the character is said to have a master’s degree. People started debating how this was possible on multiple social media platforms. Season 2 might also address this ‘age issue’ in detail.
So, has Netflix renewed Emily in Paris for a second season?
Emily in Paris has not been renewed yet since it was released only a couple of weeks back. However, from the interviews given by its creators and actors, the show will most likely return with a season 2. Season 1 was not conclusive in any way and left the viewers with a lot of questions. Taking into consideration the love and approbation the series has been receiving, the series should be back with a season 2 soon.
