Fans cook up theories for season 3 of ‘Castle Rock’
‘Castle Rock’ on Hulu is one of the most popular American psychological thrillers that you could get your hands on. Created by Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw, ‘Castle Rock’ has an out-of-the-box concept. The show works in the form of an anthology that incorporates major themes and characters from Stephen King’s novels and blends them together.
The many stories in the show occur in a fictional town of Maine, created by King, known as ‘Castle Rock’. With King’s impeccable storytelling and the thrill of mythology, ‘Castle Rock’ has taken the best of both worlds and combined them into an epic saga.
Since the completion of the season 2 run, fans have been eagerly waiting for season 3 of ‘Castle Rock’. In fact, why just stop at waiting! ‘Castle Rock’ fans have been spinning the theory yarn for season 3 already.

A fan wrote on Reddit, “So we know the kid/angel is the through-line connecting the seasons. So whatever King characters we get next season, there will be some connection to the kid/angel. I’m thinking it might be Jackie Torrence. She had sex with the kid/angel last season. Could be interesting if she showed up with baby”. Another fan commented on what could be a major spoiler, “Season 3 is almost guaranteed to be shining influenced. Heard it from a crew member who was working on the show”.
Do the creators have a plan for the show’s future?
Season 2 of ‘Castle Rock’ introduced some of King’s most iconic characters such as Annie Wilkes, Pop Merrill, and Ace Merrill. Creators Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw have confirmed that they would like to continue exploring King’s “multiverse” in ‘Castle Rock’.
According to “Bustle”, Thomason said, “The plan was always to have an interconnected set of stories and, while every season would be its own launching point, there would be this fabric of Stephen’s multiverse if you will, that always bubbled beneath it, and a unity to the stories that existed”. He continued, “When we get to season 3, I hope that there will be a continuation of what we’ve done in [Season 2] and an expansion, and the audience will start to feel that there was a plan from the beginning”.

Hulu On Its Way To Renew Castle Rock For Season 3
Stephen King has numerous tales up his sleeve that deserve to be told. We are hoping that the show gets renewed soon and season 3 of ‘Castle Rock’ is able to pick up some of them while bringing some of the iconic characters back to life. It is very likely that Bill Skarsgard will return to play “The Kid” if there is a season 3. Apart from that, it is really difficult to put a finger on which characters newer seasons will bring out given the wide library of King’s stories and characters.
The verdict on ‘Castle Rock’ Season 3 renewal
Season 3 of ‘Castle Rock’ has not been renewed yet and there’s not much talk going on about it. The production team of ‘Castle Rock’ is still contemplating about renewing season 3. The decision on the renewal remains pending as reported by “Deadline“. The head of content for Hulu Craig Erwich said, “We have not made any further decisions on ‘Castle Rock’, people are still continuing to discover it. I thought Lizzy Caplan was revelatory in her portrayal of Annie Wilkes, it was a whole new take on the character and it was very brave of her given what Kathy Bates has done [in Misery]”.
All hope is not lost though. The official announcement for season 2 finale of ‘Castle Rock’ said, “The end of them is the beginning of us”. We are taking the positive notes from that and hoping that the end of season 2 was just the beginning.
