While the finale spoke a different story, we look at how this TV couple might have a chance at being together.
‘Two and a Half Men’ wasn’t supposed to be anything other than funny in an easy, slapstick way. Nobody was expecting it to come up with award-winning story arcs or characters with a lot of depth and complexity. It had a whole bunch of dirty jokes. Besides, most of the show was adult content anyway, even though the format was that of a sitcom, and nowhere was it advertised that the show was only for adults.
Highlights —
- Walden and Zoey apart doesn’t make sense
- Why were they separated anyway?
But there is a limit to the suspension of disbelief, even the audience of a show like ‘Two and a Half Men’ can be asked to adhere to, and that limit was crossed in its finale, which was one of the most bizarre series finales ever!
One of the most absurd things about the show that contributed to the weird finale was making Zoey and Walden break up with each other, even though it seemed they were made for each other. But we think this mistake could be rectified if a ‘Two and a Half Men’ reboot happens.
Could a reboot solve the Zoey-Walden issue?
The things that made the show silly and vulgar were actually what made it kind of comforting, like white noise in the background. Since it seems to be showering reboots these days, a ‘Two and a Half Men’ reboot is not very unlikely. In fact, with the kind of popularity it garnered even after the departure of Charlie Sheen, a reboot seems quite possible.

But could it solve the Zoey-Walden issue in Two and a Half men?
After Sheen was fired from the show after eight seasons, the show-makers needed another character to fill in the void. They roped in Ashton Kutcher to play the character of Walden Schmidt, a depressed and suicidal billionaire who buys Charlie Harper’s house and becomes good friends with Alan.
Walden is still not over his ex-wife, but along the course of the show meets several women that he dates. One of them, he truly falls in love with, and that is Zoey Hyde-Tottingham-Pierce.
Walden and Zoey apart doesn’t make sense
Zoey, played by English actress Sophie Winkleman who just happens to be a member of the British royal family, appears as Walden’s girlfriend in seasons nine and ten, and even makes appearances in the final season. Although Walden’s journey was given an arc in the show, in which he goes from being an immature and suicidal adult to becoming a more confident and mature person towards the end of the show, there were still some things that didn’t quite add up, and one of them was the breaking up of his relationship with Zoey.
Why were they separated anyway?
When in season 10, Zoey tries to reconcile with Walden, she finds out that Rose has moved in with him. When Walden breaks up with Rose for Zoey, Zoey refuses to accept him. Then, in the final episode, we find that Zoey has gotten back with her ex, even though she had admitted to Walden before that she loved him. Next to his ex-wife, Zoey was Walden’s one true love. And there was no real reason for them to be apart, other than the fact that it wouldn’t have been convenient for the show-makers, given the nature of the show.
Zoey and Walden seem to be great together, and it was absurd to not have them married off. But perhaps this could be fixed by a ‘Two and a Half Men’ reboot? Only time will tell!
