Is Disney planning to move ahead, without Johnny Depp, for Pirates of the Caribbean?
There’s a lot of news surrounding Pirates of the Caribbean 6. From its plotline to its release date, fans are eagerly waiting for the next update. But the biggest question of all is, will Johnny Depp make a comeback as Captain Jack Sparrow?
Highlights
- Johnny Depp might not be a part of the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
- Disney is eyeing Karen Gillan as the female lead.
- Fans aren’t too happy about not seeing Jack Sparrow in the new movie.
According to various news sources, it seems unlikely. The reasons range from his legal troubles with ex-wife Amber Heard to Disney not being able to afford him anymore. Both of these reasons could have played a big role in Disney’s decision to drop him.
The Republic World had reported that “Johnny Depp faced several petitions that got him fired from Pirates of the Caribbean. This came in just after several allegations were imposed upon him by his ex-wife Amber Heard. Several allegations mainly of domestic violence were imposed upon the actor, following which several petitions were filed to get him off the Pirates of the Caribbean cast.”
The news broke the entertainment world back in 2018, but it still stands as relevant as the next Pirates of the Caribbean is all ready to reboot. It’s reported that a female lead will replace Johnny Depp for the next instalment of the billion-dollar franchise.

Pirates of the Caribbean gets a reboot with a female lead
The Pirates of the Caribbean is one of Disney’s most successful franchises based on the park ride. And it’s a given that any news on it will be a rage amongst its fans. The recent news is that Disney is eyeing a female lead for the next reboot of the film.
This can predict some major changes in the story for the upcoming reboot, and we can only speculate what it’s going to be like. Sources claim that Disney is extremely interested in casting Karen Gillan for the project. Our ‘Community Now’ website reported that “Although Depp’s Jack Sparrow has been the glue holding the five Pirates movies together for almost two decades, it appears Disney wants a fresh start.
Reports are actually indicating Karen Gillan, an actress on the rise after her star-making appearances in movies and TV shows such as Jumanji, Doctor Who, and a handful of Marvel’s gems as Nebula. So far these are only reports, but we can definitely see new movies happening in the future.
Pirates of the Caribbean has given the audiences plenty of fun and action over the years, with memorable characters like Will Turner, Captain Barbossa, and Elizabeth Swann. It’ll more than likely succeed on all parts again…even with a female lead!”
Gillan could play the role of Redd, a red-haired female pirate.
