The hoopla around the “not so family-friendly” Lizzie Mc Guire 2.0.
Last August, news broke that Lizzie McGuire reboot would return to Disney+, making fans across America supremely excited. Over the top of it, it was revealed that Hilary Duff will make her comeback in the series that made her the star that she is today.
“She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is super exciting. She has her dream job. She has kind of the perfect life right now,” Duff said about the reboot series making the fans crazy.
She said Lizzie 2.0 is every reason why you should subscribe to Disney + if you haven’t yet. Check her Instagram post here.
But, in January the production abruptly shut down filming the revival segment Lizzie Mc Guire 2.0. Rumours swirled that Disney thought Lizzie 2.0 was not “family-friendly” enough. It was later revealed the pilot script featured sex and a cheating scandal.
Hilary Duff and Disney + went separate ways due to their creative different ways. Later, Duff told “People” magazine that she hasn’t given up her hopes on Disney and is trying to find a middle ground.
“There are still conversations going on in hopes that we can find a way to meet in the middle and both bend a little bit,” she said. “I understand that they have to protect their brand and there are pretty strict guidelines on what that looks like.”
But Disney continues to stick to its platform’s policy. It caters to a certain age group that it feels doesn’t need that sort of content that Lizzie reboot is offering.

Since the tease, rumour mills started spinning stories that Hulu has picked up Lizzie reboot and Disney + has lost the golden chance. But neither Hilary duff nor the platform has confirmed the news of the revival series happening. But fans haven’t given up their hopes because Hilary hasn’t.
Let’s see what the rumours say and what the truth is, in regards to the release date of Lizzie Mc Guire reboot.
The iconic Lizzie Mc Guire reboot is releasing this 2020.
Rumours say that Hulu will premiere Lizzie Mc Guire reboot by the end of the year or most likely next year. But, even if Hulu officially takes up Hilary’s idea, everything will not fall in place by the end of the year.
Lizzie Mc Guire reboot may release by late 2021 if everything materializes and Walt Disney gives the reboot series to Hulu. So the 2020 release rumours are untrue.
