Black Pearl is one ship which won’t stay ashore if not for Johnny Depp. Disney executives are going back on their decision of not including Depp in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’s’ sixth instalment.
Highlights:
- Depp’s Lawsuit Got Him Fired
- Jack Sparrow Is No One If Not Johnny Depp
- ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ 6
After reports of a revival for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ were made by Disney earlier this year, fans of the billion-dollar franchise have been patiently awaiting more news. The sixth instalment for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ has found itself amid a major change again. Johnny Depp aka Captain Jack Sparrow has been the captain of this movie, steering it not only in the billion-dollar club but also making himself a superstar in the process.
And, more than a year after being “dropped” from the blockbuster series, it’s been claimed that the studio executives are reconsidering their decision to get Depp on board. What is going to happen now? Scroll down to find out!

Johnny Depp’s Lawsuit Got Him Fired
Johnny Depp’s success as Jack Sparrow might have earned him the status of a superstar but the status comes with a price.
Depp has been the part of an ugly legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard on account of their divorce. Heard accused Depp of physically assaulting her but Depp has fired back at Heard with a $50 Million defamation suit accusing her of false claims.
The lawsuit claims that it was Heard who was allegedly hostile in their marriage. And the outpouring support from Depp’s ex-partners, colleagues, and friends has also tipped the scale in his favour. As a result of this support, Disney Executives are reconsidering their decision to bring him back on board for the next instalment.

Jack Sparrow Is No One If Not Johnny Depp
Before the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise, Depp preferred to stay in the Indie-movie lane with roles like Edward Scissorhands to his name. But donning the role of Jack Sparrow, five times in fifteen years, made ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ the fourth most successful franchise of all time, bringing in $4.5 billion in revenue.
And, undoubtedly, it was Depp’s charisma and uniqueness, which he brought to the role (let’s not forget the accent), which earned the movie an Oscar nomination. The recent turn of events in Depp’s life and the overwhelming support of the public has only made the executives, now, lobby for Depp to revive his iconic role. These are the same people who, a year earlier, had announced that it was time for the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise to look for a fresh face.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ 6
The sixth instalment, rumoured to hit production in 2021, is still in the writing process. ‘Deadpool’ writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be scripting for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ 6, and movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer has informed the eagerly waiting fans that the scripting will be completed this year.
Apart from the claims that Depp will be joining the revival, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ 6 will also see the return of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann, Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner.
And, for people still worried if Depp will be reviving his role as Jack Sparrow, a petition was launched on Change.org, requesting Disney to reconsider his return. With over 199,000 signatures, Disney would definitely need a very strong reason to not bring Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ 6.
