For those who’ve been in awe of ‘The Simpsons’ and wondered how beautifully cartoonist Matt Groening came up with another of those comedic fantasy animated TV show ‘Disenchantment’, the news just gets better.
Netflix has renewed ‘Disenchantment’ for its third season. While season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, there have been multiple speculations about what ‘Disenchantment’ Season 3 will be bringing to the table. Will renegade princess Bean, low ranking demon Luci, and the outcast elf Elfo be twisting this fairytale anymore than it already is?
Highlights:
- Let’s go back for a small recap!
- When will the third season come out?
- The plotline for Season 3: What will happen in ‘Disenchantment’ Season 3
Let’s go back, shall we?
Season 1 of ‘Disenchantment’ revealed how Queen Dagmar was an evil sorceress who cursed Dreamland. The kingdom was turned to stone and princess Bean was spirited away by the queen who turned out to be her long-lost mother.
The second season opened up with Bean in Maru – Queen Dagmar’s homeland – without her allies. Elfo was no more, while Luci was captured by an unknown enemy. Again, season 2 ended with all of them defying death and ending up in a much worse situation of danger. Cliffhanger alert!
When Netflix confirmed the renewal for season 2, Matt Groening excitedly announced about several more episodes that would be out in 2020 and 2021. “We’re excited to continue this epic journey with Netflix”, Groening said. “Stay tuned for more cranked-up suspense, infuriating plot twists, and beloved characters getting knocked off”.
‘Disenchantment’ is Groening’s only production to air on Netflix and reflects the realities of the dark side of contemporary society.
When will the third season come out?
‘Disenchantment’ Season 3 was supposed to come out sometimes in the latter half of 2020. However, due to the Covid-19 situation, a little delay could be on the cards for the American adult animated series. The third season of ‘Disenchantment’ will have the same power cast. Jacobson will be Bean, joined by Faxon as Elfo, and Andre as Luci.

What will happen in Season 3?
Before we dive into what might happen in ‘Disenchantment’ Season 3. Let us discuss a crazy theory that I came across. One of the Reddit users came up with it, and I sure am pondering upon whether it could be true. “As we are already aware, Elfo is only half-elf, meaning that he is also something else. What if this is also the case for Luci and Bean.
In the final episode, when Bean and her mom get on the boat, there are various different creatures, all different types, so what if Bean’s mom is one of these creatures, just one that appears to be human. That would mean that Bean is half that creature and half-human, and therefore she would still look human.
In addition to this, Luci was supposed to always be the demon that caused Bean to do bad things, and lead her down a bad path, however as time goes on in the series, Luci helps Bean (and others) with several things, such as finding Elfo, telling the king about the queen attempting to poison him, and helping Bean get the eternity pendant. This might indicate that Luci is more than just a demon, and he could possibly just be a creation of the people spying on Luci.
Luci also shows attachment to other characters than just Bean, who he is “eternally” chained to. When Elfo gets shot, Luci appears to be concerned about who shot him”.
Okay then, interesting!
However, what could we be in for in Season 3?
Now that Bean is in her homeland, she later learns about the prophecy. While that is happening, King Zog will be attempting to take the throne again. The prophecy will be revealed and the viewers will most likely drown more into the whole household-owing-to-hell scenario. Furthermore, will Bean be able to save her father? Only time will tell.
This is your cue to stock up on the earlier seasons and refresh your memory. We can’t wait for the third season, can you? Do you have any theories of your own? What do you think will happen in the third season? Let us know in the comments section below!
